Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) serves mid-sized globally minded companies – including Fintech firms, digital technology innovators, and high-growth businesses - that require a relationship-driven, advisory banking model. As a Relationship Associate within our Germany Commercial Banking Team, you will play a vital role in supporting Citi’s mission to help our clients thrive in a rapidly changing world. Your work will directly impact the quality of client delivery, risk management, and the growth of Citi’s Commercial Banking franchise in Germany and across the broader region. You’ll work closely with Relationship Managers and internal product partners to ensure seamless execution of day-to-day client needs, onboarding, credit support, and deal implementation. This role combines operational expertise with client-facing coordination, delivering the foundation for long-term commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Relationship Managers and Product Partners to onboard new clients, subsidiaries, and credit facilities, ensuring KYC and initial credit set-ups are accurately completed.
- Manage onboarding and account-opening processes for new clients and new products across existing clients.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements in coordination with Compliance and Risk teams.
- Assist with new client acquisition and prospecting by preparing marketing materials, meeting notes, and supporting deliverables for client engagements.
- Help clients access Citi’s global network by coordinating with regional teams and product experts to meet international banking needs,
- Support Relationship Managers and credit partners with credit requests, financial spreading, annual reviews, and internal risk ratings (including new credit and extensions).
- Monitor client portfolio and coordinate with Credit Admin team to maintain up-to-date credit files and documentation (e.g. FX, derivatives, LCs, loans).
- Track usage of credit lines, escalate risk concerns, and partner with Independent Risk on Annual Reviews and audit readiness,
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records across internal systems, ensuring full compliance with Citi’s policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage day-to-day transactional needs for a portfolio of clients, ensuring delivery of credit, treasury, and trade finance solutions.
- Act as a key liaison for resolving operational and servicing issues (escalations only) in partnership with operations, legal, compliance, and other control functions.
- Assist in cash transaction implementation and coordination of account services in support of bankers.
- Partner with Citi’s product teams to identify cross-sell opportunities and align client needs with global solutions.
- Participate in internal client support discussions and ensure all communication and decisions are accurately documented.
- Contribute to internal projects related to process improvement, onboarding experience, regulatory updates, or platform enhancements.
- Deliver high-quality and timely responses to client inquiries, resolve operational issues in coordination with internal teams.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

Knowledge & Skills:
- Commercial / Corporate banking experience;
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder coordination skills with a client-focused mindset; capable of working independently and collaboratively
- Basic knowledge of trade, lending, FX and other cash products.
- Organizational skills are a must;
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Relationship skills and ability to maintain an effective network across the organization;
- Proficient n Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);ability to learn and to adapt to new systems quickly
- Fluency in English and German required (written and spoken).
Education:
- Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience
