Job Overview

Products offered encompass high value payments, cross border payments, global clearing products, instant payments, collections, corporate cards and other specialized offerings.
The Payments Risk team, part of Services Risk Management, is the primary 2LOD team responsible for managing risks associated with all payment offerings, in partnership with other BIR teams as well as Operational Risk Management. It is led by the Head of Global Payments Risk Management, who manages a team of some 13 risk professionals located in the US, Europe and Asia.
Within this team, the Payments Product Risk Manager is an SME role that reports to the Global Payments Risk Head, covering all assigned Payment Products both globally and in the EMEA region. This will include coverage of Clearing risk management across all Services Products. The incumbent will also engage with the relevant Payment Product Business Managers in the region and globally, as well as risk partners and seniors across all applicable risk stripes.
What you will be doing
- Becoming a key 2nd line challenger for the assigned Payment products, bringing to bear product and risk subject matter expertise
- Providing risk input at preliminary discussions by business on new initiatives (BRR) followed by formal input as contributor for formal New Approval Committee reviews
- Leading product and issue deep dives when required
- Timely monitoring, reporting and escalation for Payment Risk Management activities in the assigned product set, including regulatory requirements, and any interactions with OCC, Fed, ECB, PRA and FCA etc
- Providing daily challenge and approvals to intraday clearing excesses across all clearing lines in the assigned portfolio and geography
- Leveraging rating/classification downgrades and clearing usage monitoring processes to stay on top of bank’s credit view of obligors and participating in quarterly portfolio/product reviews and Clearing limit rightsizing reviews
- Reviewing client contracts, documentation and question/challenge these if deemed to put the Business and/or Citi at risk as highlighted by product Legal Partners
What we need from you
- Well versed in the varied product offerings in Payments, including the numerous internal and external systems in use as well as the associated operational processes; hands on experience in products will be a significant advantage
- Solid understanding of credit and operational risk; ideally with a credit risk officer (CO) designation
- Ability to understand and navigate interaction of various Citi functions such as Technology, Operations, and Finance in order effectively challenge risks of the product offerings holistically
- Superior oral and written communication skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and across teams and geographies to accomplish goals in a timely manner
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Must be able to work at designated Citi location 3 days / week
