Team/Role Overview
The successful individual will be a key member of the Securities Finance Operations senior leadership team, responsible for enhancing and optimising the operational support for client-related activities. This role involves close collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders across Operations, Technology, and Product/Business Partners to design and implement globally consistent processes and practices, drive client-centric operational improvements, and ensure proactive management and effective internal engagement on client-driven initiatives. This position does not involve direct interaction with external clients; rather, it focuses on enhancing the operational mechanisms that support Citibank’s client service operational delivery within Securities Finance.
As the team continues to evolve, the role holder will lead and direct a team of professionals, encompassing direct day-to-day managerial responsibility for global-based staff and oversight delivery.
The overall objective is to ensure highly efficient and effective operational processes are in place to support the dynamic needs of Securities Finance clients.
What you'll do
Enhanced Client Performance Metrics & Scorecard Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive client scorecards, integrating key performance indicators such as Straight-Through Processing (STP) rates and wallet share (in collaboration with Business). This will aim to drive efforts to increase STP for strategic clients and evaluate underperforming relationships.
- Review and drive decrease of client related manual, bespoke and End-User Computing (EUC) processes.
- Collaborate with other relevant teams
Centralised Client Query and Escalation Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries from Business Unit, efficiently triaging and directing them to the appropriate internal subject matter experts within ASL, Collateral Management and the broader Services organisation i.e. Asset Servicing, Tax.
- Centralise reporting of client escalations and complaints
Proactive New Deal and New Product Impact Assessment:
- Collate information from Product to gain early visibility into new client engagements and product launches to brief Manager before discussions takes place at the New Deal Committee (NDC) and the Global Product Committee.
- Assess the potential impact of these initiatives on operational capacity, risk exposure, and the introduction of new End-User Computing (EUC) tools and discuss this with other teams
- Maintain a detailed log or register of upcoming NDC and GPC items and their anticipated operational implications.
Client-Specific Change Management Oversight:
- Engage with Product on changes requested by existing clients (e.g., business expansion, new currency introduction, bespoke EUCs).
- Evaluate the impact of such changes on STP and overall operational efficiency.
- Manage the execution of operational aspects of change management, including ensuring necessary procedure updates.
Risk Management
- Proactive risk management and cooperation with necessary internal stakeholders to minimise operational and project risk and ensure adherence to all Citi policies, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervising the activity of others and creating accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
People
- Advise and coach new or junior level staff on procedures and work processes across multiple departments, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
What we'll need from you
- Senior and relevant experience, including significant years of experience in a managerial role within Operations, and/or a similar position with a strong internal operational focus on client-related activities.
- Subject Matter Expertise in multiple or specific skill sets, business areas, or products relevant to Operations.
- Exceptional internal stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships with business partners (e.g., Client Executives, Product teams) and senior stakeholders.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, capable of leading senior internal stakeholder meetings (e.g., Steering Committees) to discuss client-related operational matters and strategies.
- Significant industry knowledge and experience.
- Robust commercial awareness and understanding of the Securities Finance business is a benefit.
