Job Overview
The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
This Applications Development Group Manager
will assume a dual leadership mandate, combining deep technical oversight with essential site leadership responsibilities. This integrated approach ensures both robust application development and a strong, supportive presence within the Dublin technology hub.
1. Management of Prime Finance Billing and P&L Application Development Teams:
This facet of the role is pivotal for driving innovation and efficiency in our core Prime Finance applications. The Tech Lead will be responsible for:
Accelerating New Functionality Development: Directing and empowering development teams to rapidly deliver new features and enhancements for Prime Finance Billing and P&L applications. This focus is directly aligned with and critical to supporting the aggressive Prime Growth agenda, ensuring our technology capabilities evolve in lockstep with business demands. The C14 Tech Lead will provide the technical vision and execution leadership necessary to translate strategic business objectives into tangible, high-quality software solutions.
Strategic Application Evolution and Optimization: Leading the ongoing establishment and revision of application components within the Equity Finance Billing and Client P&L domains. This includes identifying opportunities for architectural improvements, enhancing scalability and performance, and ensuring the long-term maintainability and resilience of these critical systems. The C14 Tech Lead will act as a key architect for future-proofing our technological infrastructure in these vital areas.
2. Prime Services Dublin Site Lead Role:
Beyond technical leadership, this role is instrumental in fostering a thriving and engaged technology environment within our Dublin office. The responsibilities include:
Talent Acquisition and Retention: Actively engaging with Prime Services Technology management to gain a granular understanding of local market challenges and opportunities. The C14 Tech Lead will play a direct role in strategic recruitment efforts, helping to attract top-tier engineering talent to Dublin, and implementing initiatives to enhance the retention of our valuable existing personnel. This is crucial for building and sustaining high-performing teams.
Local Representation and Community Engagement: Serving as the primary representative for Prime Services in local Citi initiatives. This includes promoting Prime Services' interests and participation in broader organizational events, as well as acting as a crucial communication conduit during significant local occurrences, such as natural disasters. This ensures Prime Services remains well-integrated within the local Citi ecosystem and maintains a strong, responsive presence.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
Experience in applications development
Experience in management
Experience managing global technology teams
Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Strong in core Java knowledge + Java frameworks (Spring, Hibernate); RESTful webservices
Unix and scripting skills (Korn shell)
SQL server experience
Familiarity with CI/CD tools – Maven / TeamCity / uDeploy
Knowledge of Version Control System – git
Experience in the Financial Service industry preferred
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
