Team/Role Overview
The West and Central Africa (WCA) Corporate Sales Unit Head accomplishes results through the management of professional team(s) and department(s). Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area.
Contributes to standards around which others will operate. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Requires basic commercial awareness. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and external customers. Has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of end results of the business. Has responsibility for planning, budgeting and future strategy of the business. Involved in short-term planning resource planning. Full management responsibility of a team, which may include management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations and may include budget approval. May be involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities.
What you’ll do
- As a Corporate Sales Unit head the incumbent will manage the sales initiatives of a specified client group
- Responsible for originating, structuring and executing multi-asset derivative solutions for corporate clients
- These solutions could span structured hedging solutions related to a respective market, investment products, commodity derivatives, credit structures
- Partner very closely with respective internal coverage groups, product groups regionally and globally
- Proactive and consistent coverage of respective institutions
- Grow a consistent profitable business platform with respective clients
- Build senior level relationships with CFOs, Finance Directors, Risk Managers, Treasurers and Assistant Treasurers. Enhance Citi’s profile within the identified client base
- Grow the sales flow business from the current level
- Ability to help overall Sales team execute on formulated plan to grow revenues and increase share of wallet within an effectively developed business plan
- Take lead role in fostering an environment of collaboration through interfacing with appropriate internal partners to enhance share of mind with clients, increase dialogue and to deliver on expertise
- Understand and analyze clients’ businesses and exposures to provide best suited solutions in full coordination with all relevant business partners
- Work closely with appropriate teams to build and develop a platform for clients
- Ensure and facilitate optimal discussions with the clients
- Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
What we’ll need from you
- Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills
- Have a good understanding and experience of electronic platforms and corporate risk management
- Knowledge of CRM systems
- Experience in sales process and best practices
- Ability to work in high pressure situations
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
