Job Overview
The Regulatory Reporting role is an intermediate level position within the Controllers Organization that will report up through the Global Head of Regulatory and Capital Reporting. The individual will support the preparation, analysis and submission of regulatory reports to various constituencies (local regulators, U.S. Federal Reserve, OCC, etc.) based on applicable requirements such as U.S. Regulatory and local regulatory reporting rules and instructions. The position will have a high level of visibility within the organization with opportunities to work directly with other Finance and non-Finance functions throughout Citi, including the Businesses, Risk, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, as well as Enterprise Technology, & Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that accounting follows U.S. and local generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting guidelines and is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for compliance with local tax laws and tax planning where applicable, ensuring global tax reporting is managed on time and country tax changes are communicated to the regional tax director and country business with appropriate action plans for implementation.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
- Ensure internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
- Work with the regulators and statutory auditors, anticipating and informing the CFO/Controller, CCO, country business managers and cluster Controller of significant regulatory developments and helping to create and implement strategies to bring about desired changes.
- Ensure appropriate statutory audits and examinations are conducted, tracking of corrective actions for internal, management Risk and Management Control Assessments (MCA) and external audits are diligently performed.
- Actively participate in the franchise or country related committees, as and when necessary
- Provide/ensure integrity of MIS to Management to support business decision making.
- Involvement with major issues in the various businesses in the country that could give rise to the regulatory concerns or franchise risks.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries (including regulatory inquiries) in coordination with Citi corporate offices.
- Relationship management with senior Finance and Risk Operation and Finance stakeholders as well as Head Office functions
- Drive change initiatives by regional finance
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of extensive experience within the financial services industry and regulatory reporting.
- Able to navigate through a large organization to streamline and summarize multiple information points and create repeatable processes to build consistency in presenting information.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts, and influence change.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and an ability to identify conflicts, discrepancies and other issues and bring together the right team to solution them.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and tasks in a complex and dynamic and work well as part of a team.
- Sound technical knowledge on local regulator reporting guidelines.
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Member of accounting body (CA/ACCA/ACMA)
