Job Overview

The Data Owner Sr Analyst is responsible for executing the data strategy at the business/function level by ensuring that data is compliant with Regulations, Laws, and Citi Policies, Standards & Procedures to reduce and manage Citi’s data risk.   They will assist in implementing the Data Strategy, architecture Target State, and executing the data delivery roadmap for Authoritative Data Sources.   They are responsible for promoting data as an asset and influencing culture change to make the organization increasingly more data driven.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in critical aspects of data governance policy and data strategy to manage data.   
  • Assist in building a deep, comprehensive, and documented understanding of the business’ key data, data processes, and data flows.
  • Assist data consumers to agree on the scope of critical data quality challenges and ensure that the data operating model is implemented to reduce data risk.   
  • Assist in remediating Data Concerns, including dispositioning and monitoring fixes (Data defects, Data issues). Review, remediate, report, and monitor Data Quality issues through Citi’s corresponding Data/Issue management process.
  • Provide support to Data Stewards to drive end-to-end management and consistent usage to maximize the trustworthiness of business/function data. Identify data quality “hot spots” or points of exposure.
  • Support alignment of key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, business process maps, and training materials with the data and system process flows.
  • Support the development of informed target state plans and execution roadmaps.      
  • Escalate potential barriers to timely execution before they impact the delivery, communicate potential risks and plans to mitigate issues and concerns.
  • Participate in meetings and working sessions to solve issues, challenges, and risks by factoring input from partners and diverse points of view.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in banking and financial services industry, information technology, and data governance. 
  • Experience with data management processes and tools and applications, including process mapping and lineage toolsets.
  • Strong knowledge of structured/unstructured databases, data modeling, data management, rapid/iterative development methodologies, and data governance tools.
  • Strong understanding of data governance issues, policies, regulatory requirements, and industry information affecting the business environment.
  • Demonstrated relationship management and advisory skills with sponsors, key stakeholders, partners, and team members in both business and technology forums.
  • Good presentation skills, business and technical writing, and verbal communication skills to support decision-making and actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to recognize and comprehend complex data flow and designs.
  • Self-motivated and able to dynamically determine priorities.
  • Actively managed various aspects of data initiatives including analysis, planning, execution, and day-to-day production management.

Education

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
  • Experience working in customer operational areas
  • Experience or knowledge about database administration and risk projects related to customer data quality
  • Experience proposing mitigation plans / actions for the identified risks or issues timely.
  • Previous experience proposing operational and strategic projects that impact customers
  • Desired experience in Data industry with sensibility in customer and operational risks.
  • Leadership skills required.
  • Desired previous experience stablishing operational controls and designing strategical projects.
  • System knowledge to define technical requirements from a customer an operational view.
