Job Overview
The Counsel is an intermediate position responsible for managing a variety of day-to-day legal activities in coordination with the Legal team. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice and guidance across a broad range of practice areas.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate employee performance and provide recommendations for pay increases, promotions, terminations, etc.
- Work independently to provide legal advice in one area within a product or country or for an area of legal expertise (Litigation, Regulatory, HR, IP, Employment, etc.)
- Analyze documentation against regulatory requirements and internal policies to advise business accordingly
- Resolve problems, escalating to senior staff as needed
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience
- Valid Bar license to practice law
- Banking/financial industry experience or experience working at a large law firm
- Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws and practices
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Proven analytical and organizational skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Corporate and Investment Lawyer – Counsel (AFORE)

En Banamex, buscamos un(a) Abogado(a) Corporativo y de Inversión para integrarse a nuestro equipo legal especializado en gobierno corporativo y sistemas de ahorro para el retiro (AFORE).
La persona seleccionada será responsable de elaborar y revisar documentación legal, participar en asambleas de accionistas, realizar actualizaciones en sistemas internos, analizar políticas y manuales corporativos, y dar seguimiento a temas regulatorios y de otorgamiento de poderes.
Responsabilidades principales
• Elaborar presentaciones y documentos para asambleas de accionistas.
• Actualizar información en sistemas corporativos y de AFORE.
• Revisar y analizar políticas, manuales y normatividad aplicable.
• Asegurar el cumplimiento de legislación en materia de sistemas de ahorro para el retiro.
• Dar seguimiento a procesos para el otorgamiento de poderes.
• Asesorar en temas de derecho financiero, bursátil y corporativo.
Calificaciones requeridas
• Experiencia: 5 a 8 años en derecho corporativo, financiero o bursátil.
• Experiencia en industria financiera/bancaria o en un despacho de abogados.
Experiencia muy deseable en roles legales dentro de AFORES
• Conocimiento sólido de leyes y regulaciones federales, locales y estatales.
• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación escrita y verbal.
• Capacidad comprobada de organización y análisis.
Deseable experiencia en contratos de derivados/ estructurados.
• Experiencia en contratos de derivados y estructurados (deseable).
• Inglés avanzado (oral y escrito).
• Manejo de paquetería Microsoft Office.
