Job Overview

The APIs Tech Lead is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function.

Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources.

The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis, architecture, coordination and programming activities. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

The candidate requires a strong knowledge and experience in developing architecture vision, strategy, and end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Proficient at operating with considerable autonomy and discretion as you will significantly influence the way an application is designed and developed by providing subject specific expertise and an advanced level of understanding of application programming principles.

• Responsible for executing and leading medium and large-sized application design, architecture, and development efforts through to completion, act as a development lead on projects and supporting the execution of larger efforts. Understand engineering needs including those required to build, maintain, and operate the system through all phases of its life.

• Create solution architecture artifact that are consistent with architecture principles, methodologies, and best practices with a goal of resilient and scalable cloud-based solutions.

• Formulates and defines systems scope and objectives for complex, high impact application enhancements and problem resolution through in-depth analysis and evaluation of complex business processes, systems and industry standards; documents requirements. Proficient in information modeling, data structures and algorithms.

• Design common business functions and capabilities within the Trade ecosystem to simplify technology footprint and faster time to market.

• Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, architecture definition, IT planning, risk technology, vulnerabilities, applications development and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas.

• Understand and prioritize organizational initiatives.

• Continuously assess development processes, test plans, and operations.

• Own the definition and execution of architectural governance process.

• Works closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts and Systems Analysts to determine and document Systems impacts and support requirements.

• Participate in business meetings for application impacts for any new business changes only if needed.

• Participate in design discussions as a Development Lead and as such will play the part of a key decision maker in driving design decisions. This is evidenced by your knowledge of the application code details and your experience with the technology and teams engaged.

• Partners with multiple technology areas and management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals.

• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision. Recognize discordant views and take part in constructive dialog to resolve them.

• Sought after due to ability to analyze and troubleshoot coding, application performance and design challenges.

• Acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts; allocates work.

• Acts as an advisor and mentor to team members to grow solution architecture skills.

• Work across teams to optimize processes.

• Work with teams to improve concurrent project delivery.

• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

• Responsible for the continuous technological improvement initiatives of the systems for which is responsible.

• Execute application remediation plans to maintain application current (EOL/EOVS) and compliant with security policies (periodic VA and changes in policies).

• Identifies risks, vulnerabilities and security issues; communicates impact; proposes risk mitigation options.

• Capable of research in root cause of development and performance concerns as well as the resolution of defects.

• Regularly review metrics and proactively seek out new and improved mechanisms for visibility ensuring your program stays aligned with organization objectives.

• Performs other duties and functions as assigned.

• Interfaces with vendors to assess their technology and to guide their product roadmap based on Banamex requirements.

• Supports vendor teams, conducting reviews of code and BAU releases.

• Responsible for retaining the Intellectual Property and knowledge of applications in the group.

Qualifications:

• Banking/Financial/Trade/Payment experience.

• 6+ years of relevant experience.

• 4+ years as Tech Lead.

• Expertise in developing architecture vision and strategic solutions.

• Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; Data driven and results-oriented.

• Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.

• Expertise in building solutions with domain driven design (DDD), API, microservices, Openshift, Apigee, event-driven architecture and cloud native principles

• Expertise in modern languages (e.g. Java 11,17 and 21), messaging, integration and data streaming technologies (e,g, Kafka, MQ etc..), caching & database (RDBMS and NoSQL) tools, application development framework (e.g. Spring boot), well architected framework, data integration solutions, software architecture patterns and tools.

• Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines

• Expertise working or leading requirement gathering efforts for multiple large development projects at one-time.

• Expertise leading infrastructure programs

• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills.

• Skilled at working with third party service providers

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

• Experience delivering with Agile and Kanban Framework.

Education:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree.

• Intermediate-Advance level of English
