Job Overview
Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a first line of defense business line, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities performed for Citi’s institutional clients. ICM’s objective is to provide integrated end-to-end credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit across the enterprise. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function (“ICM UW” or “UW”) provides credit analysis, underwriting, and first line of defense credit approval for periodic / material transaction reviews, and any necessary subsequent credit monitoring across all institutional business including Corporate Banking, Services, and Markets relationships.
ICM Risk Analysis (“IRAU”) is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) organization. The IRAU’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration acting as a partner to Banking & International Risk and Corporate Banking to execute our shared commitment to ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending across Client Organization.
ICM Risk Analysis Credit Risk Officer for ensuring quality assurance and timely delivery, while being the primary responsible for coaching and training of the team of AVPs and Credit Risk Analysts.
This role has responsibility for the Japan Corporate UW Portfolio and the role reports directly to the Japan Corporate UW Staffer.
In this role, you’re expected to:
• Accountability for ensuring best in class core credit risk analysis of applicable portfolio ensuring consistencies with industry leading practices and conforms to all internal credit procedures/policies, and all related regulatory expectations. Act as the primary "checker" within the team to all activities performed by Credit Risk Analysts, Credit Risk Senior Analysts, and Credit Risk Associates.
• Supporting the Credit Risk Portfolio Manager on the continuous engagement with applicable BCMA and Independent Risk senior stakeholders in the region to understand any concerns regarding execution of risk analysis and/or emerging risks which will need to be addressed by the team, and ensuring the tactical execution of these guidelines is reflected on all core deliverables of the team.
• Ensure ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of Credit Risk Analysts, Credit Risk Senior Analysts, and Credit Risk Associates to sustain a strong credit culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in analysis and execution.
• Partnership with applicable regional and industry stakeholders in BCMA and Independent Risk in the implementation of credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios
• Support the Global Head and Underwriting CAO on internal projects and initiatives.
Skills/Competencies:
· Risk & Credit Underwriting:
o Ability to evaluate, negotiate, structure and/or monitor extensions of credit.
o Knowledge of relevant Citi-level and business-level credit policies and the ability to apply this knowledge to specific situations.
o Well-developed analytical skills, including an understanding of key financial components (liquidity position, leverage profile, etc.) with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues.
o Forms independent opinions on credit and recognizes emerging risks.
o Demonstrates advanced knowledge of financial statements and GAAP accounting or similar governance relating to country of operation.
o Knowledge of the relevant customer, industry, and product range
o Integrity, honesty, sound judgment, commonsense, and attention to detail
o Ability to communicate clearly, to think and act independently, and to know when to ask for guidance from more experienced officers or specialists in the credit process.
· Leadership:
o Displays a deep commitment and positive attitude to Citi and colleagues, is reliable, and eager to do more.
o Coach and mentor junior analyst to develop team strengths and improve weaknesses.
o Strong awareness and adherence to the control environment including Quality Assurance and Quality Control

o Highly effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority with Senior Levels of Management
o Solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manages time and priorities effectively.
o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.
· Technical:
o Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills
o Exceptional experience with the internal Policies, Standards, Procedures, Templates and with financial modeling
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
· Bachelor’s/University degree in Finance / Accounting or any other related subject, Master’s degree preferred.
· Financial Services experience including 6-10 years of credit experience in Banking or Credit Risk Management
