Job Overview

The primary objective of this role is to provide legal services for the business conducted by Citi Group Global Markets Japan Inc. ("CGMJ") and Citibank, N.A., Tokyo Branch ("Citibank Tokyo"), with a focus on (i) Securities Services and (ii) Commercial Cards.

Backgrounds and Additional Information

●            CGMJ is the broker-dealer arm in Japan of Citigroup. Its main businesses are Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, and Research. Citibank Tokyo is engaged in banking operations such as deposit-taking, credit extension including loans, fund transfer and clearing both in Yen and foreign currencies, and investment business including marketable securities.

●            This position is being offered because the incumbent who covers Securities Services and Commercial Cards will be leaving soon due to reaching the mandatory retirement age.

●            Securities Services encompass settlement, clearing and custody businesses. Commercial Cards are corporate payment card solutions designed for businesses and organizations. These cards serve as efficient tools for managing various corporate expenditures, including employee business travel expenses, entertainment and hospitality costs, and procurement-related spending.

●            The scope of this role is not fixed. You will have opportunities to engage in wider practice areas, depending on your expertise and the development of our businesses.

●            This role is expected to deliver high-quality legal services proactively and independently.

●          Work Location: Tokyo

Qualifications

●          Admitted to practice law in Japan.

●          Professional Experience: 5+ years of financial law experience, either at a law firm or in an in-house legal role in financial services.

●          Languages: Japanese (native level) and English (business level).
