Job Overview
The Applications Development Manager is an intermediate management level position responsible for providing full leadership and direction to a team of employees in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities
Lead the development, testing, and deployment of responsive, high-performance, and scalable user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks and libraries.
Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into high-quality, pixel-perfect, and interactive user interfaces.
Work with backend developers to integrate front-end components with API services, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance.
Implement clean, efficient, well-documented, and reusable code following established coding standards and best practices.
Conduct thorough testing of UI components, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to ensure robustness, usability, and cross-browser/device compatibility.
Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring junior developers.
Stay up-to-date with emerging front-end technologies, trends, and best practices, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
Troubleshoot and debug UI issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process, tools, and methodologies.
Ensure accessibility (WCAG compliance) and internationalization (i18n) standards are met.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in UI development for large-scale web applications.
Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/Less/Styled-Components), and JavaScript (ES6+).
Extensive experience with at least one major front-end framework/library (e.g., React.js, Angular, Vue.js) with a strong preference for [mention specific framework if applicable, e.g., React.js].
Demonstrated expertise in building responsive and adaptive designs using CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Material-UI, Tailwind CSS).
Solid understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).
Familiarity with build tools and bundlers (e.g., Webpack, Babel, Rollup).
Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Enzyme).
Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, user-centered design, and accessibility standards.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
