Job Overview
The Pega Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing business process management (BPM) solutions using the Pega platform. This role involves working closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and build robust, scalable, and efficient Pega applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Pega PRPC, a solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Design and develop Pega applications and reusable components in accordance with business requirements and architectural guidelines.
- Implement Pega best practices, including guardrail compliance, for optimal performance and maintainability.
- Configure and customize Pega rules, flows, UI, and integrations (e.g., SOAP, REST, JMS).
- Develop and implement data models, business rules, and UI screens within the Pega platform.
- Analysis and Solutioning:
- Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to understand business processes and functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into technical solutions and Pega design specifications.
- Participate in solution design and architecture sessions.
- Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects in Pega applications.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices, and performance guidelines.
- Deployment and Support:
- Assist with the deployment of Pega applications across different environments.
- Provide post-implementation support and maintenance for Pega solutions.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
- Documentation and Collaboration:
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
- Work effectively in an Agile/Scrum team environment, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in Pega PRPC development.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Pega PRPC versions
- Strong understanding of Pega Guardrails, enterprise class structure, and design patterns.
- Experience with Pega case management, UI development, and integration capabilities (Connect-SOAP, Connect-REST, Service-SOAP, Service-REST).
- Knowledge of databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and SQL.
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Pega System Architect (CSA)
- Certified Pega Senior System Architect (CSSA)
- Certified Pega Lead System Architect (CLSA)
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Pega Robotics, Pega Marketing, or other Pega solutions.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with other BPM tools or platforms.
