Job Overview

The Applications Development Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Full Stack Engineering Developer to design, develop, and test application modules in Angular and Java. The candidate should be skilled in the design and development of business modules using Angular, Java and related components. The role demands an understanding of standard development practices and implementation strategies. This role involves working as a part of distributed teams and demands writing, communication, time-management skills along with good technical skills.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements
• Identify and analyze issues, make recommendations, and implement solutions
• Utilize knowledge of business processes, system processes, and industry standards to solve complex issues
• Analyze information and make evaluative judgements to recommend solutions and improvements
• Conduct testing and debugging, utilize script tools, and write basic code for design specifications
• Assess applicability of similar experiences and evaluate options under circumstances not covered by procedures
• Develop working knowledge of Citi’s information systems, procedures, standards, client server application development, network operations, database administration, systems administration, data center operations, and PC-based applications
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Primary Skills:

• Very strong knowledge in Angular, HTML/CSS 5 and JavaScript
• Proficiency in Spring / Spring Boot / Spring MVC / Sprint JPA / Spring Security
• Proficiency in Microservices / REST API
• Strong proficiency in Java core concepts, Collection, multi-threading, and advanced Java features
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket and GitHub code repository hosting platforms

Secondary Skill:

• Experience in PL/SQL, and Oracle databases
• Solid understanding of OOP design principles
• Experience with Jenkins, Lightspeed, Containerization
• Knowledge on Caching, Spring, React JS
• Knowledge Cloud, docker, OpenShift, AWS
• Good Understanding of design patterns

Good to have:

• Should have good reasoning and logical thinking skills 
• Knowledge on CI/CD pipelines, and understanding of DevOps concepts
• Knowledge on Apache Kafka
• Agile development methodology

Qualifications:

• 2 years of relevant experience
• Relevant experience in the Banking Industry
• Experience in programming/debugging used in business applications
• Working knowledge of industry practice and standards
• Comprehensive knowledge of specific business area for application development
• Working knowledge of program languages
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Experience in Applications Development role - Full stack (e.g. Java, J2EE, Angular JS, SQL, Spring, Hibernate, ReactJS, NodeJS, Oracle, CICD Pipelines (Docker/Containers))
• Strong fundamentals of OOPS (Object Oriented Programming Standards) Concepts, Data Structures, and Algorithms
• Ability to write "Clean code" using Core Java, JEE, Collections, Multithreading
• Should be familiar of developing and architecting integrated solution with non-functional requirements like scalability, high availability, consistency
• Experience with Spring Framework - Spring Boot, Microservices at the minimum, plus experience with additional tools/frameworks/components from the Spring tech stack is highly desirable
• Strong experience with API and Web Services development using REST protocols
• Must have a good understanding of Unit testing, test coverage
• Ability and willingness to work across multiple tools, frameworks, and technology stacks
• Good working knowledge of source code control tools and technologies is a must
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
