Job Overview

The Engineer Intmd Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for a variety of engineering/SRE activities including the design, acquisition and development of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems and services.
  • Develop and implement automation for deployment, monitoring, alerting, and incident response to minimize manual intervention.
  • Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize system efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions to provide deep insights into system health and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on capacity planning and forecasting to ensure our infrastructure can handle future growth.
  • Build and improve internal tools and frameworks to streamline engineering workflows and enhance productivity.
  • Work closely with software development, QA, and product teams to ensure reliability is built into the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, documentation, and best practices for system operations.
  • Conduct product evaluations with vendors and recommend product customization for integration with systems
  • Assist with training activities, mentor junior team members and ensure team’s adherence to all control and compliance initiatives
  • Support projects and provide project status updates to project manager or Sr. Engineer
  • Create installation documentation, training materials, and deliver technical training to support the organization
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in an Engineering or SRE role
  • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • Strong proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Solid experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Bash) for automation and tooling.
  • Experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Splunk, Datadog).
  • Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing).
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
