CSIS is a corporate security function operating across more than 100 countries. We are responsible for the security and safety of Citi’s employees and facilities, and we lead Citi’s response during security incidents and crisis events. We value employees who will care about the wellbeing of our employees and will respond with urgency and a sense of ownership towards a diverse range of incidents.
Your main responsibility will be to manage and coordinate the security and safety services in Citi Chennai for all Citi businesses. The key goal of the position is to maintain a safe environment for clients, employees, to protect the company's assets and respond to security incidents. It also involves the protection of the company’s integrity and reputation.
You will be responsible for developing a local security program and procedures that conform to the Citi Security Policy and Citi Security Standards.
It will be your responsibility to ensure the program meets business requirements and local legal and regulatory requirements.
You will design incident response plans and take the lead during physical security and safety incidents.
Your reporting line will be to the CSIS Security Cluster Head.
(What Does It Take to Be In This Role)
CSIS takes a risk-based approach to security protection through implementing physical security measures and security systems which include access control systems, CCTV, and alarm monitoring, and is supplemented by security guarding where required.
The CSIS Security Manager provides security support, guidance, and response to employees from various nationalities and diverse backgrounds.
This role requires the successful candidate to demonstrate high levels of professionalism and confident leadership as well as the ability to interact with senior leadership in Citi, and with external stakeholders such as vendors, local authorities, emergency services and law enforcement.
You will be required to perform regular on-site reviews to verify the quality of compliance with requirements of the Citi Security Standards, procedures implemented and the standards of our Security Services during all operating hours at Citi Facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES (What You Will Be Working On)
- This role will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of Citi by interacting with multiple businesses across the enterprise.
- This role will leverage subject matter expertise, whether that is physical security and safety, crisis management, security technology, event security/logistics or vendor management.
- Manage day-to-day operational activities in area of responsibility as well as emergency response, crisis response and recovery functions, across multiple locations and jurisdictions in which Citi has a business presence/operation in full compliance with Citi Security and Fire Safety standards.
- Maintain, and find ways to improve, current security policies and procedures.
- Manage multiple vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with peers, leadership team and Industry contact to understand risk profile of properties within span of control.
- Keep abreast of security industry standards, technologies and systems.
- Execute efficiently under tight time constraints.
- Establish relationships with senior business leaders and interface with internal Citi functions and external agencies to promote functional excellence.
- Represent CSIS on facility, Crisis Management Teams, and during Continuity of Business exercises.
- Be knowledgeable of global, regional and local security protocols, operations or guidelines and apply them at each facility.
- Integrate concept of “Continuous Improvement” into management activities and communicate same to direct reports
- Manage contingent and contract staff at various Citi facilities, sites and branches.
- Clearly and concisely brief management on ongoing major security matters and does so in a professional manner.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
- Conduct Security Risk Assessments (SRA) for all Citi facilities in accordance with the requirements of the Citi Security Standards.
- Perform quality assurance using penetration testing and operational readiness exercises as tools to ensure a high state of operational readiness.
- Perform security self-audits and create and train Security and Safety Administrators to conduct security self-audits at remote Citi facilities.
- Perform quarterly evaluations on security components and ensure that any gaps identified through the process are remediated timely and escalated if needed.
- Designing and implementing a facility security plan, including monitoring and implementing an Incident Response Procedure.
- Respond to security incidents, investigating incidents/breaches and reporting incidents via the Global Security Management System (GSMS).
- Meet the key performance metrics for your area of responsibility.
- Ensure security-equipment remains functional and current, and liaising with the CSIS Project Management and Technology Team to design replacements or new systems where required.
- Provide support to CSIS Executive Protection when required and support visiting travelers during security events.
- Comply with local laws, rules and regulations on security and fire safety procedures.
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Tell Us What You’ve Got)
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant qualifications and/or apprenticeships/ vocational training programs.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Professional Security Qualification or Certification will be an advantage.
EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES (What We Are Looking For)
- Ideally, 7+ years security management experience in a corporate, regulatory, consultancy or defence and law enforcement environment. However, serious consideration will be given to candidates without security management experience who possess strong banking operations knowledge, in an audit, controls, risk or compliance capacity or candidates with strong crisis management experience.
- Experience working in a corporate or financial services security team in a leadership role.
- A deep understanding of security operations, processes, and controls with demonstrated experience in designing a security program at facility level.
- A strong understanding of applicable local laws/statutes as they relate to security.
- Demonstration of verbal and written communication skills in English and fluency in one official local language.
- Managed team of security professionals and contingent staff.
- Performed critical evaluations of staff to raise operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Proven experience of providing leadership in managing crisis events or significant security incidents.
- Demonstrated ability to find agile solutions to manage a dynamic threat or risk.
- Knowledge of Operational Risk Management frameworks and regulations for the banking industry.
- An understanding of the security risks in the relevant cities and countries and the geo-political risks that might impact the country.
- Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the elements of a security & safety risk and control environment. Identifies and remediates weaknesses in security activities.
- Experience with understanding potential security or safety threats (e.g., fire, executive protection), local threats based on geographic location and their impact.
- Demonstrates understanding of risk management and innovatively develops solutions and makes suggestions to senior management to mitigate risks.
- Demonstrates the ability to understand who the key internal and external stakeholders are, and how to build relationships and networks to manage stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to multitask by prioritizing and triaging multiple security incidents.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel, often at short notice.
- Flexibility to work on call off hours/weekends.
