Markets Controllers is the largest department in Finance primarily responsible for controlling daily profit and loss reporting, price verification and trading activity for the Markets Business. We work closely across functions on a daily basis (including the Trading desks, Risk Management, Operations, and other areas of Finance) and develop a deep understanding of the products traded, along with the associated market risks and accounting complexities.

Markets Controllers - Global Process Owner (AVP)

As part of the Price Risk & Volcker Reporting Team you will work with a team of diverse and supportive professionals, who are representing Markets Controllers in firm-wide and other end-to-end process transformation programs. The team also owns the Profit & Loss Attribution Analysis (PAA) review and reporting process across functional silos, geographic and businesses.

PAA is the formalized process of explaining business-reported revenue with reference to underlying risk sensitivities and has become a significant area of focus both internally and externally. PAA is one of the key tools in enabling Finance to gain understanding and insight into trading desk revenues.

With end-to-end global process ownership, Price Risk & Volcker Reporting Team is accountable for drive implementation of robust governance framework, measures, metrics, and reporting mechanisms of Profit & Loss Attribution Analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive robust governance framework for PAA review & reporting for Markets Controllers in line with strategic initiatives.
  • Work closely and establish excellent business relationships with all areas of the Finance department, liaising with the Price Risk & Controls, Risk Management, GFT and MSST IT Teams
  • Efficiently solve complex, ambiguous problems/situations and identify opportunities to add value beyond the scope of formal projects
  • Provide reporting or analyze data across key deliverables, including the identification and remediation of issues
  • Use effective escalation to ensure issues are highlighted in a timely manner. Focus on recurring issues and drive through enhancement projects and systems fixes
  • Subject Matter Expert for PAA related policy and procedures
  • Provide communication and training for key policy and process changes

Ideal background:

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience
  • A university or college degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics is an advantage but not a must as we are open to other majors.
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Confident analytical and communication skills
  • Controls focused mind-set
  • Strong PC skills in Excel, Word. Training will be provided on other in house and industry standard systems used in this position.
