About the Team
Cash Services within Services, Markets, Banking and International & Client Operations (SMB&IC Operations) is an enterprise-wide utility providing financial integrity and efficiency through comprehensive payroll management, strategic cash and liquidity optimization and robust payment capabilities controls, empowering our organization to thrive and our employees to succeed.
Cash Management Operations manages and optimizes intraday cash & liquidity on central bank, Financial Markets Infrastructure (FMI) and agent bank accounts within the framework set by Treasury. In its target state it carves out, centralizes and augments activities directly supporting Treasury in management of intraday cash and related liquidity risk. It works closely with Payment Controls, also part of Cash Services, to operate an effective control framework for movement of funds (Citi’s cash).
About the Role
The Cash & Collateral Governance Lead Analyst will be a key member of Cash Management’s governance and support team focusing on comprehensive governance and oversight to support safety and soundness of this Operations function. The role support Cash Management’s global transformation, target operating model implementation and ongoing operation of it by establishing and administering a suitable governance and oversight framework and operating model. Scope includes creating processes and practices which support compliance with Policies and Procedures, and which support demonstration of how obligations and performance and service level expectations are met.
Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally at a senior level. External communication/negotiation may be necessary with Central Banks, agent banks or Financial Market Infrastructures. Responsible for defining and executing functional strategy in area managed. Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses globally. May be involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities and acting as back-up/deputy for the Global Head of Cash Management.
What you will do:
- Serve as a subject matter expert, developing and implementing business initiatives, client solutions, and projects.
- Stay abreast of developments within the firm’s transformation and control initiatives, considering their implications for the role and the business.
- Manage the volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of complex deliverables for the broader Cash Services organization.
- Be accountable for the integrity of processes, operations, and associated results; may include responsibility for planning, budgeting, and policy formulation within the area of expertise.
- Conduct detailed analysis of complex issues where the optimal course of action is not immediately evident, recommending and implementing solutions.
- Investigate various scorecards and performance management tools to mitigate exposure (risk/financial/regulatory); design and implement monitoring reports and tools as needed.
- Continuously identify and drive opportunities to improve and strengthen organizational delivery by overseeing and developing various governance frameworks and tools.
- Define, develop, implement, and track appropriate margin-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the group.
- Identify the need for and establish necessary guardrails to support the operational delivery of the organization.
- Manage stakeholders to ensure a best-in-class client experience, assess service quality, and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Risk and Controls teams and second-line partners, supporting operational teams in a wide range of programs, including but not limited to Continuity of Business (COB), End User Computing (EUC), Third Party Management (e.g., ICSA, CBDC), Records Management and Manager's Control Assessment (MCA).
- Contribute to the establishment of operational standards for others.
- Develop and execute business plans, policies, and procedures, demonstrating an ability to lead projects, offer innovative solutions, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Apply strong analytical skills to filter, prioritize, and validate potentially complex material from multiple projects.
- Demonstrate commitment to process improvement, client service, control, and cost reduction, actively identifying opportunities to implement process improvements, service enhancements, or technology enhancements.
- Apply a solid knowledge of the business to develop creative solutions for client and business needs.
- Provide in-depth and sophisticated analysis to define problems and develop solutions.
- Influence strategic functional decisions through expert advice, counsel, or provided services that directly impact the business.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, management, and internal/external clients and stakeholders; facilitate and enable change.
- Persuade and influence colleagues, management, clients, and stakeholders through excellent communication, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.
- Individuals at this level may manage a department, product, or process with significant independence.
- Act as a technical expert, serving as a key advisor on significant business/product decisions.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how their area collectively integrates to achieve overall business goals.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with other team members.
- Lead by example in support of organizational initiatives by exhibiting in-depth knowledge of products and issues, and proactively seeking opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.
What we need from you:
- 6-10 years of relevant experience
- Significant industry experience required
- Advanced usage of Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Proven ability to manage complex issues related to operations management and implement and manage a successful risk/control environment
- Execution focused mindset to overcome obstacles and minimizes bureaucracy
- Demonstrated exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills with senior leaders across functions to articulate complex recommendations
- Ability to develop partnerships with Technology, Compliance/Risk, Finance, HR and key internal stakeholders
- Impeccable integrity and judgment
- Leadership, talent management and team building experience may serve as an asset
