Team / Role Overview:
We are seeking a strategic professional who works effectively as part of a team leveraging their technical skills. Requires general understanding of a financial firm’s key operations and their risks and controls. Developed communication skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas. Capable of working independently, as well as with other team members; can plan and execute on complex projects. Provides advice and counsel related to measuring and assessing risks. Work can have broad impact, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of business groups or the firm as a whole.
This position is in ORM Processing Risk and Coverage team. ORM is an enterprise level independent risk management function responsible for enterprise-wide oversight and aggregation of operational risk across all Businesses/ Functions (or Material Legal Entity). Our mission is to enable the bank to achieve its strategic objectives with robust operational risk frameworks and risk management principles while operating within defined risk appetite parameters.
What you’ll do:
- Assist in improving frameworks for measuring risk, assessing control effectiveness and monitoring outcomes and residual risks within the context of the firm’s risk policies, tools and risk governance processes.
- Develop and maintain relationships across the Lines of Defense to collaborate effectively to reduce processing risk and maintain 2nd Line of Defense challenge and oversight.
- Can operate with a limited direct supervision; can exercise independence of judgement.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
- Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
What we’ll need from you:
- Demonstratable experience in navigating and networking across a large enterprise.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (metrics and data analysis), PowerPoint (presentation decks), and Word (writing and editing procedural and technical documentation).
- In depth knowledge and skills in performing data analysis and visualization, preferably in Tableau.
- Strong team player with excellent work ethics, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Quick learner with strong communication, organizational & interpersonal skills with the ability to work with counterparts in various areas in the organization.
- Strong skills in developing and presenting conclusions to senior managers.
- Attention to detail; capable of delivering high quality work while managing competing priorities.
- Experience in a Risk function preferred.
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
