This position is within the Collections and Recovery Risk Policy that is part of the USPB Risk Management organization. The Collections and Recovery Risk team’s mission is to help customers bring their accounts current or fairly resolve their debt. The Collections Policy team owns Policy and Strategy, and partners closely with the Operations and Technology teams on implementation and execution of strategy. The position is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Directs a team of risk professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within the collection and recovery function and deep understanding of industry best practices. Requires strong analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of the area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of collections segmentation and contact strategy for USRB products including outbound dialing, IVR, email, text, chat, letters as well as specialty areas like SKIP, Do-Not-Call etc.
  • Develop vision, end state, and strategy / roadmap to meet risk management objectives.  Enlist and/or influence others to support vision, end state and roadmap and then deliver / execute. 
  • Hypothesis development, analysis, test design, test vs control analysis, development of recommendation and oversight of implementation and execution are key focus areas.
  • Provide analytical rigor and thought leadership to deliver best-in-class forward compatible contact strategies with a heavy focus on customer experience.
  • Drive the data strategy including collection, transformation, retention, usage and governance to support a data-driven approach to strategy development.
  • Be aware of and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as provide relevant operational oversight.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Ensure strong controls and monitoring in place for strategies and processes in area of responsibility.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in Policies/Analytics/Decision Management.
  • Strong technical background in analytics using SAS, SQL, Hadoop or similar tools.
  • Thinks and makes decisions in high risk scenarios, appropriately assessing a situation based on available data, experience, intuition, and judgment.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Able to interface with various levels of management and stakeholders in Risk, Operations, Product functions.
  • Knowledge in consumer risk management credit cycle processes; collections experience preferred.
  • Maintain effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating Risk issues, strength in sustaining autonomous views.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Fields such as Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Business Finance, or Mathematics. Master’s degree preferred.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$156,160.00 - $234,240.00
