Team/Role Overview:
The Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent global group within Product Control, responsible for reviewing and reporting fair value inventory and IPV (Independent Price Verification) across all asset classes.
VCG is organized along business lines and clients of the group include Business Heads, Line Product Control, Market Risk, Model Risk, Compliance, Legal Department, Middle Office, Internal Audit, external audit firms and the regulatory bodies in countries impacted by Citi’s footprint. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation control policy.
The successful candidate will supervise the Non-Markets Valuation Control team and will be expected to have hands-on involvement as well as supervisory responsibility to ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the bank's books and records. Non-Markets covers Citi business units in Banking, Services, US Personal Banking, Wealth, and All Other (Corporate Treasury and Legacy Franchises).
What you will do:
Responsible for working across Product Control, Risk and Operations and Business to perform IPV.
Supervising a team to ensure the quality and timeliness of daily tasks and operate with limited level of direct supervision.
Acting as a business partner to the Business, Risk, Compliance and Finance.
Carrying out price testing, fair value hierarchy, and valuation adjustment calculations for all Non-Markets businesses.
Compilation of data to produce detailed Valuation reports for the Business, Controllers and Risk.
Coordinate globally to ensure consistent independent valuation methodologies are applied.
Ensuring timely remediation of regulatory matters requiring attention, audit findings and associated reporting demands.
Development of appropriate controls to effectively ensure compliance with Policies and Standards pertaining to valuation control.
Analyzing high volumes of financial data to detect and escalate anomalies and propose appropriate course of action as needed.
Conduct individual performance evaluation and develop career planning for team members.
What we'll need from you:
6-10 years of relevant experience performing valuation related analysis on a wide array of asset types, ideally in valuation or product control or a related discipline (e.g. market risk etc.).
Experience in managing and supervising a team; Strong leadership skills, work ethics, and detail oriented.
Comprehensive understanding of valuation methodologies and controls in a wide array of financial instruments including liquid and illiquid investments.
Understanding complex valuation concepts and current global accounting and regulatory developments pertaining to the valuation of financial instruments.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with strong data management and analytical skills ; Programming experience is a plus.
Willingness to learn technical/IT skills; Some experience in SQL, VBA, Python, Tableau, or KNIME would be a great advantage.
Ability to comply with all required controls, governance, and policies.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
Self-motivated and innovative to be able to create process efficiencies.
Utilize subject matter, industry, and institutional knowledge to problem solve complex and varied issues.
Strong communication (both written and oral), influencing, and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with senior and junior staff.
Fluent English (verbal/written) at minimum B2 level.
Education:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any finance, economics, or quantitative related subject.
