Finance Reporting Group Manager - C14 - TORONTO
The Finance Reporting Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for generation, analysis and submission of regulatory and financial results for the Canada Franchise through the management of the associated Finance team. Additionally, the Finance Reporting Senior Manager develops reporting and control protocols to accurately prepare information required for financial and regulatory reporting and analysis. The overall objective of this role is to accurately prepare and report business/financial transactions, reports and statements in accordance with local regulatory guidelines, delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the analysis and submission of reports to OSFI & CIRO (local regulators) based on IFRS requirements and local statutory reporting
- Oversee closing the books and sub-ledgers, including passing appropriate required adjustment entries and consolidating financials at the end of each accounting period
- Perform analysis of financial results and conclude cause of variances such as accounting issues and economic events
- Interpret policies, guidelines, and processes and resolve complex problems and transactions
- Communicate with peers within the firm and externally, including regulators and professional organizations
- Provide advice to internal clients on the implications of new business, issues, operating environment changes, and firm or business unit strategy
- Manage, direct, train, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members
- Lead key initiatives/projects and controls as well as maintain working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and accounting developments
- Utilize knowledge of finance/accounting concepts to ensure accurate Regulatory Reporting filings
- Drive re-engineering, process efficiencies, and continuous process improvement efforts to strengthen controls and data
- Conduct research and analysis of regulatory reporting and other regulatory matters presenting results, as warranted
- Build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external auditors, regulators, and key contacts within multiple areas across Citi
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of related financial and regulatory experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of related industry practices and standards
- Ability to collaborate across multiple functions
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
Education:
- CA, CPA
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- CIRO PDO Exam
- CIRO CFO Exam
