VP – Markets Ops Business Intelligence Lead

We support an extensive range of Capital Markets products and services including Fixed Income (FX, Rates, Credit, Muni, Cash and Derivatives) where Citi is consistently a dominant top 3 player in the market, Equity (Cash, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Futures, Listed Derivs, FXPB) where Citi has a significant growth program to continue to build out its capabilities and services; and Syndicates where we support both FI and EQ new issues and IPOs.
Markets Operations at Citi has embarked on a significant, multi-year transformation covering all aspects of designing and delivering a future state target operating model: risk and controls, regulatory compliance, process re-engineering, automation, people and culture, data transformation, technology investment and client service. This is a large and complex undertaking.
The Markets Operations Transformation team has been formed to support stakeholders both within Operations and across the bank, to design and deliver this multi-year transformation roadmap. Our transformation is underpinned by strategy, investment, change execution and a market-leading operations change delivery team focussing on programme and project management, business analysis, process re-engineering, low code application development and PMO.
The team is currently recruiting for a Business Intelligence lead at the VP level to take a lead role as part of the Markets Operations Transformation team. The candidate will support Operations Markets team to put in place both put in place our Data Governance model as well implement our Data Analytics strategy across our teams. The role requires a good understanding of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.
Initial functional scope of this role will include all Business Intelligence functions for Markets Operations but may be subject to change as a result of business priorities, programme budgets and overall transformation priorities.
The Business Intelligence lead role is responsible for gathering and analysing data, providing reporting and dashboards and fulfilling ad-hoc requests to provide actionable insights for decision-making. This involves managing data retrieval and analysis and utilizing the analysis to identify patterns, root causes and opportunities for improvement in a quantifiable manner. This will include design and development of metrics and dashboards to measure performance and ad hoc data analysis.
The Data Analytics Lead Analyst is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
The successful candidate will partner closely with the rest of the Market Ops Transformation group, Markets Ops and Market Business management and technology partners to utilize data to drive process improvements, risk reduction and client service excellence.
- Partner with Market Ops management to execute the analytics agenda and prioritize highest value use cases.
- Execute the program agenda using a methodical approach that conveys value to stakeholders.
- Evaluate the need for analytics, assess the problems to be solved and what data sources to use or acquire.
- Drive exploration/experimentation in visualization and review benefits and value of analytics techniques and tools and recommend improvements.
- Coordinate with other technical/functional teams to implement BI solutions.
- Produces detailed analysis of issues where the best course of action is not evident from the information available, but actions must be recommended/ taken.
- Track record of delivering and managing large, technical data programs across multiple businesses and geographies
- Demonstrated experience in delivering change in a collaborative, agile team environment as well as more standard frameworks
- Ability to monitor tight deadlines, or unexpected requirement changes
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, organise and prioritize work within a delivery framework
- Strong collaboration, communication and coaching skills
- Excellent client servicing and presentation skills
- Strong ability to establish, build and maintain strong effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of modern technology, architecture and infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of virtual teams to deliver on strategic outcomes
- Works with Operations stakeholders and builds and manages relationships.
Qualifications:
- 6-10 years’ experience, with significant data analytics and technical skills
- Track record of delivering and managing large, technical data programs across multiple businesses and geographies
- Ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive and problem solving techniques
- Demonstrated experience in delivering change in a collaborative, agile team environment as well as more standard frameworks
- Ability to monitor tight deadlines, or unexpected requirement changes
- Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, organise and prioritize work within a delivery framework
- Strong collaboration, communication and coaching skills
- Excellent client servicing and presentation skills
- Strong ability to establish, build and maintain strong effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of modern technology, architecture and infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of virtual teams to deliver on strategic outcomes
- Works with Operations stakeholders and builds and manages relationships.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI etc.
- Experience with SQL is preferred
- Additional Asian language is a plus as the role will be servicing countries like Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand etc
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Master’s degree
