Citi Finance is responsible for the firm’s financial management and related controls. We manage and partner on key Citi initiatives and deliverables, such as our quarterly earnings process and ensuring Citi’s compliance with financial rules and regulations. The team comprises chief financial officers who partner with each of our businesses and disciplines including controllers, financial planning and analysis, strategy, investor relations, tax and treasury.
We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Vice President, Senior Financial Officer - Singapore - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Sr. Financial Officer - C14) based in Singapore. Financial Officers support the development and execution of financial objectives related to revenues, expenses, capital, and risk for their respective areas. This includes supporting the development and implementation of strategic business initiatives and partnering across other functions and Finance disciplines. Lead Financial Officer (LFO) teams are Finance partners to the functions and businesses they support.
This is a senior level position in the Asia South Cluster Executive Decision Support (EDS) and Legal Entity Analysis team providing the Asia South Cluster management team with analysis and insight of Asia South financial results in coordination with the broader Finance, Business and Product / Functions team.
The overall objective is to contribute to directional strategy as well as utilize in-depth specialty knowledge to provide advice/counsel on the evaluation of financial reports of Citi’s current and projected performance.
This role will support the following responsibilities:
• Assisting the business / function in their efforts to establish and deliver financial objectives related to revenues, expenses, return on investment and capital
• Supporting short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting and planning processes through engagement with functional partners such as FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) and understanding of the impact of various business drivers, macroeconomic trends, and the competitive environment to the financials
In this role, you’re expected to perform the following
- Business Partners / Advisor to support the strategic direction of the team
- Key function / business stakeholders include Cluster/Country Finance/ Banking and International Finance team, CCOs (Chief Country Officer), Product/Banking Coverage teams as well as the Management Team of Legal Entities in Asia South and Business execution leads
- Partner with Asia South Cluster / Country Business Execution teams to identify potential impacts / issues, and corrective actions for variances to financial plans through in-depth analysis and interpretive thinking
- Engage with Country CFOs (Chief Financial Officer) /Business Execution (BE) teams on a variety of activities including expense optimization opportunities and initiatives
- Work in partnership across Finance and with the Business to understand and improve efficiency and returns particularly Operating Efficiency, RoA (Return on Assets) and RoTCE (Return on Tangible Common Equity); understand scorecard metrics and drive discussion with CFO/ CCO’s on execution
- Executive Decision Support
- Provide support to the Asia South Cluster Management teams in Asia South – CFO, CCO and Business Heads, delivering Finance activities for the countries within the Asia South Cluster including P&L (Profit and Loss) and B/S (Balance Sheet) analysis, headcount analysis, returns, client analysis as well as initiatives
- Pro-actively analyzing, investigating, escalating and explaining key movements and trends to Senior Management and playing an active role in monthly business reviews coordinating and preparing materials for internal or external meetings
- Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the Asia South Cluster Client Financials for Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking, their core mandate and strategic objectives
- Providing insightful analysis and thoughtful challenge that helps inform the business' / function's strategic and financial plans and contributes to performance-based outcomes
- Assisting in preparation of Quarterly Business Review materials with Asia South Cluster / Country BE teams and other functional partners
- Providing financial reports, analytics and insights to Banking and International Finance team, Cluster/Country Finance, CCOs, Product/Function and Coverage teams, including key financial metrics, results, trends and analysis
- Supporting development of business cases and analysis to inform and influence business investment decisions
- Financial Management
- Responsible for supporting various financial aspects of the Asia South Cluster Franchise including Client Financials, Expenses, Legal Entity Planning Reviews, ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process), Risk and Control, and Ad Hoc Analysis
- Management of expense trends and opportunities, revenues impact in relation to change in regulatory requirements, benchmarking performance with the industry
- Lead and drive strategic plans, forecasts and outlooks, including at Legal Entity level in partnership with FP&A team
- Work with local Legal Entity Management (LEM) teams to ensure legal vehicle plan aligns to business plans including the support required to meet legal entity requirements
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience
- Financial management experience, including financial planning, budgeting, reporting, analytics and analysis
- Strong analytical and communication skills and proven ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
Education:
• Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
