The Head of LATAM Commercial Lending Management (CLM) manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories, and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget, and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • The function entails the strategic development of underwriting criteria and policies requirements for lending to Latam Citi Commercial Bank (Latam CCB), as Latam CLM Cluster Head, to enable business growth in a sustainable way.
  • Applies credit underwriting criteria and documentation requirements for Latam in accordance with WCR Polices/Standards/Procedures, Global CLM Desktop Manual and any required local laws and regulations.
  • Serves as the main point of contact in the cluster for any matters concerning WCR.
  • Identifies new opportunities by continuously reevaluating current credit policies, standards, processes, and procedures that could generate new business or improvements to internal processes.
  • Strategically develops, designs, and executes tests that will enable future growth, strategy optimization or process enhancement in alignment with CLM Global Office requests.
  • Represent CCB Latam and lead discussions with regulators and auditors, in the due course of activities.
  • Effectively leads a large and diverse team across multiple geographies.
  • Plays a proactive role in training credit staff in CLM Latam.
  • Ensures the CLM Latam team has an accretive pipeline of SCO candidates.
  • Ensures accretive succession plan.
  • Develops relevant MIS to monitor the Latam CCB portfolio.
  • Actively works cross-functionally with key business partners to support the business strategy.
  • Ensures compliance with Global Policies.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management, commercial lending, counterparty credit risk and credit controls in large financial institutions
  • SCO or equivalent required
  • Proven technical and analytical skills.
  • Able to synthesize data and make assertive approval recommendations with the right risk and reward balance
  • Proven ability to lead/build winning/diverse teams
  • Diversity and Inclusion champion
  • Ability to work on a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the varying levels of senior management throughout the credit and business organization and navigate complex organizations.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree. Master’s degree is a plus.
