The Investor Services Head of Controls and Regulatory Management (C-16) will be tasked with leading and managing the global risk and controls organization for Investor Services, comprised of multiple teams of senior professionals including other senior managers. The role requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the risk and regulatory framework across Investor Services and the Firm including the different systems, models and practices relevant to the function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles.  Requires solid conceptual/practical grounding in Risk Management, compliance, and operational controls, together with industry and peer best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Investor Services Risk and Regulatory Management team to successfully manage Investor Services’ complex global business to drive the risk and control function, uplift risk, compliance and governance standards and practices in partnership with Services Controls and Regulatory management, Investor Services leadership, Services leadership and firm-wide leadership teams
  • Partner with stakeholders to enable business growth whilst providing robust challenge and establish effective governance, drive strategic execution of critical programs, and direct/indirect initiatives that contribute to the remediation of risk and uplift of the control environment across Investor Services
  • Engage with Services Risk and Control teams, and represent Investor Services across Risk and Control forums, provide inputs across Operational and Compliance Risk governance, Risk Appetite Program, management of Risk profiles, operational risk scenario analysis, stress testing for Operational Risk capital requirements and drive programs across risk stripes for Investor Services through effective partnership with business leadership, Controls leadership, second line risk and compliance leads
  • Maintain front-to-back oversight of all in-business controls processes and governance including but not limited to end-to-end process management, risk identification/analysis/management, standards and procedures coordination (incl COB), Issue Escalation and socialization, New Product and Business Practice reviews, Managers Control Assessment (MCA) Oversight and quality execution, issue management and Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Management/coordination/escalation, and management of audits, Franchise reviews and regulatory exams.
  • Promote and foster a culture of end-to-end collaboration and accountability across product, cluster, central and operations controls teams within Investor Services
  • Appropriately assess risk and provide advice when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualification & Education:

  • 15+ years experience in Financial Services, preferably with time spent in a role with direct risk, controls, and regulatory management responsibilities
  • Specific operational risk experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to understand risk management principles, regulatory frameworks, Operational Processes and Technology systems for the business, as well as represent the Services business through direct interaction with regulators and regular support of the Services Exco by providing expertise on risk and control and regulatory subjects.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate in an environment where priorities are frequently changing across a variety of global stakeholders with various levels of seniority, including external communication with regulators
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who can take broad visions and concepts and develop structured plans, actions and measurable metrics and then execute on those plans; demonstrated ability to prioritize high impact potential challenges effectively
  • Consistently reads different situations accurately and takes appropriate action to gain senior commitment. Ability to work collaboratively with regional and global partners across functions, to navigate a complex organization, and to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level to align and drive decision-making and business strategy
  • Strong people manager who is comfortable outlining objectives, delegating responsibilities, providing clear and honest feedback and demonstrated track record of effective management and development of junior talent
  • Experience managing teams with broad accountability in a complex environment and demonstrates a flexible, resilient and action-oriented approach to ambiguous, high-pressure and time sensitive situations

Education

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably Masters degree.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$250,000.00 - $500,000.00
