Team:

The Business Expansion Team at Wealth at Work is a dynamic group dedicated to driving growth across the expansion verticals.  This team is specifically focused on designing and implementing strategic pathways that enhance the scalability of our wealth offering to the client base.  By identifying opportunities for development and optimizing existing services, the team ensures that each vertical can meet market demands and client’s expectations. The team will work collaboratively with cross-functional groups to align strategic initiatives across the organization.

The Business Expansion Strategy Lead plays a pivotal role in the development and execution of the strategic roadmap to support business growth and client satisfaction across the expansion verticals.  This role also involves fostering strong partnerships and collaboration across Citi’s five major businesses and leveraging their synergies to deliver a comprehensive One Citi solution to our clients.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies that drive growth across established expansion verticals with a focus on enhancing client relationships across Wealth at Work
  • Research the landscape of wealth management offerings to the expansion verticals and design a comprehensive plan to build robust product capabilities to drive growth and a top-quality client experience
  • Translate the client strategy into a cohesive and actionable implementation plan and communicate the strategy across and down the organization in a clear and consistent fashion
  • Lead and execute on initiatives that directly support the Business Expansion strategy and Wealth at Work strategic initiatives in general
  • Develop and track key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of growth strategies across verticals
  • Gather and analyze market trends, competitor landscape, and client needs to continuously refine and improve upon the strategic roadmap
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of the Wealth at Work business, client needs, external market trends, and opportunities and integrate into strategic plan for growth
  • Seek to optimize internal processes by identifying inefficiencies and other areas for improvement.  Develop implementation plan and drive cross-functional process alignment
  • Develop clear and persuasive business cases, presentations, and other materials to communicate strategy, requirements, and other key messages
  • Lead cross-functional meetings to gather information and insights from various teams, ensuring alignment on strategic goals
  • Collaborate closely with Citi’s five major businesses to establish strong partnerships and ensure the delivery of One Citi to our WaW clients
  • Lead project teams and individually execute projects, thereby utilizing a broad set of skills including issue and data analysis, problem-solving, project management, and communication.
  • Guide and execute analysis of our markets, competitors, and customers using internal and external resources.
  • Identify opportunities and issues of strategic importance to the business.
  • Develop recommendations to advise senior management on high-priority initiatives, including growth strategy, product and segment strategies, and cross business initiatives.
  • Actively recruit and develop team members, including placement out of the Strategy function into other roles in the businesses.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with an ability to translate strategy into clear objectives and tactical actions that drive results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt the style to suit the audience. Leadership skills combined with the ability to influence peers and stakeholders formally and informally are essential.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team of knowledgeable professionals.
  • Problem solving capabilities; ability to take a complex problem and organize it in discrete pieces for solution.
  • Ability to size and prioritize large-scale initiatives.
  • Experience, ability, and positive attitude to utilize data to gain insights and drive decision-making: ownership, analysis, management, system integration and consolidation with adherence to a strong governance framework.
  • Experience in managing and developing junior team members as well as junior staff outside of the team.
  • Ability to work across complex businesses and matrix management structures while managing and prioritizing across multiple workstreams and deadlines across projects, reporting to different stakeholders.
  • Experience in close collaboration with business and technology partners, ensuring an ongoing transformative culture.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
