Citi Ventures - Associate/AVP
Citi Ventures is the strategic venture capital arm of Citi. The team makes investments in and partners with high-growth private companies whose capabilities and/or customer bases are complementary to those of Citi. Citi Ventures invests for both strategic and financial return by leveraging strong relationships with and knowledge of the priorities of Citi business unit leadership, including U.S. Personal Banking, Wealth, Client, Banking, Markets, and Technology.
Citi Ventures is seeking a talented, highly-motivated, low-ego individual to join our investing team in New York at the Assistant Vice President (AVP) level. This role will require comfort across a range of responsibilities, from 1:1 meetings with internal and external executives, to in-depth financial and business analyses, to driving quarterly reporting and administrative work. AVPs are involved in all aspects of deal sourcing, analysis, execution, and portfolio management, as well as frequent strategic engagement within Citi and supporting portfolio companies’ efforts to forge strategic partnerships within the bank. AVPs are expected to be self-starters and team players who proactively find ways to enhance the Citi Ventures team’s ability to achieve and exceed its objectives.
Position Scope & Responsibilities
(a) Sourcing: identify, research, and access management teams of high-potential startups that are of strategic relevance to Citi
(b) Analysis: quantitative and qualitative diligence on prospective investments, their competition, markets, and financial prospects, which will include excel models and powerpoint presentations outlining findings and recommendations
(c) Execution: manage internal approval processes and ensure stakeholders are adequately informed and approvals are obtained and documented in accordance with Citi policies
(d) Portfolio Management: attend portfolio company management meetings, review provided information, and monitor positions to ensure accurate and timely internal reporting
(e) Strategic Engagement/Partnerships: maintain regular dialogue with Citi leaders to understand priorities, produce materials for regular meetings, introduce and help guide startups that solve pain points within Citi
(f) Other duties to support team as needed including creation of thought leadership and marketing content, managing events, and building a network that enhances Citi Ventures’ profile
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking or a top-tier management consulting firm, preferably with a focus on financial services or technology (candidates with venture capital investing experience will also be considered even if they have not worked in investment banking or consulting).
- Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier undergraduate institution, preferably in Economics, Finance, of other analytical discipline
- Demonstrated interest in and ability to discuss fintech and venture capital themes and concepts
- Strong communication, writing, excel, and PowerPoint skills

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$98,960.00 - $148,440.00
