The Credit Risk Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.
In this role, you’re expected to:
Identify credit risk, process trends and training needs within the body of underwriting work completed each month.
Manage and provide credit risk management support by reporting on underwriting analyst performance.
Manage teams that deliver a consistent, goals and sophisticated process of underwriter review.
Calibrate variances with front-end Quality Assurance and other Audit functions.
Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
Provides for competent discourse of rebuttals to variances and quick resolution of issues requiring remediations.
Identifies measures and reports on complex underwriting issues at the individual underwriter level.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Actively participate in Learning, Development and Training opportunities including instructor led courses
Improve VoE Engagement, Belonging (DEI), and Leadership scores
Travel (less than 10%)
As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:
Demonstratable financial services experience, including 12-15 years in Banking or FI Industry
Deep knowledge of Wholesale Credit Processes and Policies spanning the Credit Risk Value Chain
Credit Officer (CO) or demonstrating the skills aligned with that designation
Exercises highly effective people management and leadership skills
Must have proven analytical skills and the ability to assimilate complex information.
Impeccable and thorough knowledge of Credit risk systems
Ability to synthetize complex information into clear, compelling presentations and well-structured analytical workbooks.
Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
