This new and exciting role is based in London and has come about following Citi’s ongoing commitment and investment to support the international growth plans of UK Mid-Market businesses. Citi Commercial Bank UK (CCB UK) was established in 2016 to support the international growth plans of UK headquartered Mid-Market businesses with annual turnover of £50m to £2bn. The success of the UK team has led to considerable client growth across the UK Mid-Market ‘Business & Professional Services’ industry. As part of CCB’s ongoing commitment to serve UK Mid-Market companies with international growth plans, we have created a dedicated ‘Business & Professional Services’ client coverage team.

The objective of the team is to leverage Citi’s unique and globally diversified commercial banking offering to support the international banking & financing requirements of UK headquartered companies across the ‘Business & Professional Services’ industry. This role will be reporting to the CCB UK Head of Business & Professional Services and will be based out of London (Canary Wharf). The primary responsibility of the Associate Relationship Manager will be to support the Senior Relationship Managers in servicing the banking & financing needs of our Mid-Market clients, deepening existing client relationships and acquiring new commercial banking clients’ across the UK Business & Professional Services industry, with a clear career pathway to Relationship Management.

The successful candidate will possess commercial banking experience, strong analytical/risk assessment skills, proven client relationship skills and have an established network across the UK commercial banking industry.

Key Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Relationship Managers to ensure we provide a ‘Client First’ approach and help to deliver outstanding day to day banking & operational support to our Mid-Market clients
  • Also manage own existing portfolio of key clients relationships by managing key client stakeholder relationships (CEO, CFO, Treasury Teams) and bring the ‘whole bank’ to the client to ensure  exceptional client service. Utilise Citi’s market leading insights to build strategic dialogue & relationships with senior management teams. 
  • Builds relationships with Citi network and operational teams, becoming a key contact for client requests, internal requests/escalation and resolution.
  • Support clients to access Citi’s global network, locating local coverage and product support across Citi’s global network of 96 countries.
  • Understanding of key commercial banking processes & solutions, including Transactional Banking, Markets, Trade, Treasury, Working Capital and Lending products.
  • Close co-ordination with Credit partners, such as Transaction Management, Corporate Loan Management (CLM) and Independent Risk, for credit line set up and availment, ensuring that approvals obtained are in line with requirements under the Risk Policy and ensure timely resolution of data exceptions (facility excess or unmatched transactions)
  • Timely completion of the Annual Credit Reviews and interim requests and updates
  • Support Relationship Associates with client onboarding, working on customer due diligence and record creation for both new, existing and prospective clients. Liaise both with the client and internal KYC / AML teams to handle requests and documentation related to client on-boarding.
  •  Proficient use of internal systems and applications in order to obtain, store and manage data in relation to credit, KYC, account management and client reporting.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client, eg treasury, liquidity and operational requirements. Build meaningful relationships helping to support with routine banking, credit queries, service escalations and introductions to teams across Citi’s global network
  • Leading on co-ordination of complex cash management implementation and trade projects across KYC, onboarding, technical and product implementations and documentation negotiations.
  • Responsible for driving client opportunities through CRM, initiate CRM workflow for account opening and other Treasury & Trade Solution (TTS) products. Take ownership of all documentation related queries and wider implementation during onboarding phase
  • Handle client queries on further Treasury & Trade Solution (TTS) ancillary opportunities.
  • Share regulatory, market and product updates as well as training seminars with the clients on a timely basis
  • Provide support where necessary for the coordination of Banking RFP’s and internal meetings (e.g. Credit Committees)
  • Assist bankers in the co-ordination of ad-hoc regulatory/data review exercises.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Previous banking experience. Working within Commercial/Corporate banking is desirable
  • Experience in a Client Relationship role or client facing role
  • Knowledge of general banking processes, onboarding processes and cash management & liquidity
