Job Description

We provide the critical hosting platform and development tooling for all of Citi's major container initiatives. Join us in expanding Citi's growing internal cloud offerings and help spearhead the next generation of modern Kubernetes and automation tools.

This role includes a combination of hands-on engineering, architecture design & working with our end-users to help them meet their goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in both managing and actively participating in improvement of the internal Kubernetes offerings including the evaluation of new technologies. They will take a proactive role in assessing the current technology environment and proposing, designing, and implementing innovative, industry leading, solutions that support our strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Identify new platform capabilities in coordination with multiple teams across the organization, including security, infrastructure & other engineering teams.

• Actively participate in the architectural design, implementation and management of new technologies to achieve these capabilities.

• Be directly involved in the evaluation, conceptualization and testing of these technologies through the conduct of hands-on proof of concept exercises.

• Produce solutions which overcome the challenges of working in large scale environments with a need for high performance & security.

• Advise internally on both the direction & improvement of existing platform capabilities.

• Work with platform users to understand their issues & requirements, then translate them to platform wide improvements.

• Recognize & reduce operational bottlenecks in existing offerings to enable us to continue to scale.

• Directly troubleshoot and resolve complex highly distributed issues related to container offerings.

• Develop, maintain, and utilize technical documentation and architectural diagrams.

• Manage multiple strategically significant workloads simultaneously.

Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of relevant software engineering & platform operating experience

• 2+ years of experience of OpenShift internals, design patterns & tooling.

• Knowledge of baremetal Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments.

• Experience with modern platform-as-a-service operating models

• Strong understanding of Kubernetes/OpenShift internal architecture, platform and container application design patterns & the container tooling ecosystem

• Proven experience in managing assessment and PoC of strategic technologies.

• In depth understanding of system infrastructure, including networking, firewalls, storage offerings etc.

• Strong communication skills, with the capability to advise on engineering topics at both a technical & executive level.

• Red Hat OpenShift Certifications, Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification is a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
