The Role

The Data Quality Lead Analyst position is in Citi’s Data Tracing team within the Finance Department.  The Data Tracing team is part of an enterprise-wide effort to transform and strengthen the firm’s data, modernize data infrastructure while simplifying the data operating model and executing the strategic priorities for the firm. As the proliferation of data has increased in modern banking so too has the importance of Data Quality.

Data Tracing is a key part of Citi’s Data strategy transaction testing regulatory and management reports to mitigate issues and risk of reporting errors. With over 200 million customers and business in over 160 countries Citi is a systemically important bank.

Data Tracing involves investigation of transactions and attestation of accuracy through provision of source documentation evidencing and matching regulatory reported values. This is an initiative that straddles multiple products across all regions within the bank.

Our Commitment is to develop a robust internal industry-grade capability for Data Tracing in-line with Citi’s transformations initiatives. Data Tracing team is looking for talented individuals to join their global team managing the retrieval of source documentation to assess DQ accuracy working with SMEs across the SM&C Business.

What you will be doing

  • Responsibility for managing the workflow of a team of 6-10 Analysts, ensuring they deliver against tight deadlines on behalf of global senior stakeholders
  • Managing the Document Sourcing process through cycles including allocation of resources and issue escalation management
  • Provide product expertise to improve the efficiency of the Document Sourcing current process
  • Produce documentation to capture current data sources and contacts by product, system, region, etc.
  • Coordinate and report to key stakeholders on real time data flows
  • Ensure KPI’s are deployed and effectively managed in-line with operating model
  • Deals with complex and variable issues which could impact the business
  • Work with Lines of Defence (QATV/FINCRO/Internal Audit) stakeholders to ensure consistent approach is followed for Data Tracing
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities existing processes, looking at better ways of working and delivering improved results
  • Implement the Target State Operating Model including finding areas of improvement in current state process via evaluation or organization, processes & technology
  • Develop wide exposure to multiple business and product lines
  • Proactively identify & manage risk across risk management frameworks
  • Liaise with the central Data Planning team to agree requirements to meet regulatory commitments

What we need from you

  • Previous experience of carrying out a Data Quality Analyst role gained within a financial services environment is preferred
  • Proven track record of success in process improvement, identifying and implementing better ways of working
  • Problem solving and solutions-based mentality, always striving for better results
  • Experience in data quality assurance and regulatory reporting is advantageous
  • Fantastic communication skills required coupled with the ability to manage key stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong planning and time management skills
  • Ability to monitor tight deadlines or unexpected requirement changes
  • Result orientated mindset in order to provide fast and effective delivery under scrutiny of senior management
  • Pro-active, flexible, and collaborative within team environments
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of any financial products such as Derivatives, Securities, Loans, SFT, Deposits, Cash & Due, etc. is desirable
  • Advanced understanding of project management methodologies
