The Country Risk Intmd Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Good understanding of how the team and area integrate with others in accomplishing the objectives of the subfunction/ job family. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities. Quality and timeliness of service provided will affect the effectiveness of own team and other closely related teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports credit analysis, including annual credit reviews, portfolio reviews, classified credit reviews.
  • Identifies and analyzes situations that create risk and legal liability for Citi, utilizing various resources such as credit reports, score cards, risk systems, and knowledge of the elements of Risk.
  • Analyzes and interprets data to make conclusions on complex portfolio credit recommendations.
  • Contributes to assessing risks of existing and new relationships - including periodic review of financial results and statements to monitor operating performance, liquidity position and financial condition.
  • Maintains sound understanding about different markets, products, strategies, tools and associated risks.
  • Performs detailed analysis for complex credit recommendations (consumer, issuer, acquirer, and vendor) to ensure appropriate risk/reward balance, including contract analysis and negotiations.
  • Reviews problem areas and establishes effective action plans to mitigate risks specific to product/markets and communicates findings of analysis to business managers.
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify trends.
  • Participates in problem recognition, identifies key risks and material changes.
  • Develop and implement data quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency and effectiveness of reporting.
  • Preparation and analysis of MAS Regulatory Reports
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and responsible for being in compliance with MAS
  • Support any additional queries from MAS
  • Ensures adherence to all relevant Citi policies
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience
  • Requires a basic conceptual/ practical grounding in policies as they apply to the business.
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information.
  • Knowledge about different markets, products, tools and associated risks that the business supports.
  • Knowledge of institutional and regulatory credit policies with good understanding of accounting, product and finance principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Banking operations (International and domestic)
  • Knowledge about risk systems infrastructure including key processes, coverage and data flows in order to identify risk effectively.
  • Highly detail oriented, exceptional analytical skills and effective team player with ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Highly proficient in SAS, Python and MS Office – (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
