Salesperson - C15, Director, NAM Precious Metals Solutions (Commodity Sales)
The NAM Precious Metals Solutions Senior Salesperson is an experienced and seasoned strategic professional who applies in-depth market knowledge. Recognized technical authority across the full precious metals value chain, the Director Salesperson will be responsible for developing our Corporate and Institutional precious metals franchise in the Americas and serve as an intermediary in trading for clients. This Salesperson role requires commercial awareness and good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Established customer relationships and excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and negotiate with others, in particular external customers and colleagues. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of Precious Metals Institutional and Corporate clients in the Americas and be responsible for Precious Metals Sales origination, cross-sell and retention across the portfolio
- Originate new Precious Metals solutions for clients, working closely with Structuring to create bespoke structures that combine aspects of investing, financing, hedging and physical metal trading
- Responsible for growing the Precious Metals P&L of clients and oversee the sales process from origination to revenue realization for assigned clients
- Primary regional point of contact for clients in the Americas and accountable for sales origination, development of products and services to deepen wallet penetration, revenue realization and expansion, and driving customer satisfaction through quality service delivery
- Identify client goals & financial needs that can be addressed through Structured Commodities products
- Refine and implement sales/marketing strategy to improve Citi's client footprint and maximize associated revenue while working with management/colleagues to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration and revenue goals
- Advise team in strategic positioning and closing transactions with various internal stakeholders (structuring, trading, legal, credit and risk etc.)
- Forge a relationship with salespeople in order to leverage Citi's franchise and source relevant buying and selling opportunities for clients
- Manage and drive the deal team and work closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Trading, Structuring, Logistics and O&T to achieve objectives
- Ensure consistent, professional delivery of all client management disciplines including: account planning, call reporting, lead generation, pipeline management, implementation acceleration and Precious Metals relationship review
- Develop and maintain market knowledge through participation in conferences and keeping up to date on market trends affecting clients
- Champion multi-product and/or cross-regional solutions and pricing through the deal review process (Product Sales will be responsible for overall proposal creation and deal review)
- Ensure global team communication (e.g. call reports, CRM, emails)
- Drive overall client satisfaction with the Commodities platform and build customer loyalty
- Respond to customer escalation for operational/customer service issues, including complex or cross-geography issues
- Lead strong governance and controls
- Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
- Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in a Precious Metals Sales/Structuring role at a Financial Institution or Commodities Trading House
- Strong understanding of physical precious metals and physical financing
- Customer service oriented person with excellent communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of regulations, market practices and bank operations
- Demonstrated interpersonal, oral/written communication skills
- Analytical and Advanced problem solving skills
- Independently motivated and resourceful
- A sense of pragmatism and urgency in execution of strategy
- Innate leadership ability to galvanize resources across units
- Product, sales and/or business management experience
- Ability to work with broad group of stakeholders
- Willing to travel
- Must have or be able to obtain required licenses including Series 3, 7, 55 and 63.

- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
