The Sanctions Transformation project manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing Sanctions transformation projects, both from a strategy and execution perspective. This role will work directly with Technology, Global Product, Compliance and Operations partners across Services group to ensure successful operational readiness on Sanctions transformation Risk and Control initiatives.

A comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within Services and Compliance function and how they interact, to ensure operational needs are met and delivered is required. Strong program / project management and strong commercial awareness are necessities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are needed.



Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of executing to milestones on Services sanctions screening projects related to Risk and Controls.
  • Focus on business analysis and SME task over the project course by working with various stakeholders.
  • Gathers requirements from Processing Teams and manage backlog with appropriate business case and other needed details.
  • Work with Project Sponsor to ensure business case/cost benefit analysis is in line with business goals and confirm project plans meet business needs as described in the project initiation documents.
  • Ensure that all projects proceed as per project management standards, that they are managed in a consistent manner and that stakeholders are aligned.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are identified and included in scope definition activities and understand project schedule and key milestones.
  • Ensure all areas of the project are appropriately staffed and monitor project commitment from those assigning resources.
  • Escalate project risks to the Project Director, or Project Sponsor, when appropriate.
  • Provides in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Directly affects the business by influencing strategic functional decisions through advice, counsel or provided services.
  • Persuades and influences others through developed communication and diplomacy skills with colleagues in other areas.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.


Qualifications:

  • Previous exposure to control / risk functions and compliance related projects within payments and sanctions
  • Project management experience with previous exposure to control / risk functions and compliance related projects.
  • 8+ years of relevant regional and/or global experience in a financial institution.
  • Ability to develop project plans, manage individual deadlines and goals.
  • Knowledge of project metrics, including gathering, reporting, trend analysis, creation, and metrics.
  • Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives using basic root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, MS Project, VISIO, Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
  • Stays abreast of current industry trends and new technology through professional associations, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP certification strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of payments system infrastructure and data flows between applications / clearing would be an added advantage.
