Securities Backed Lending Lead
The Securities Backed Lending (“SBL”) Subject Matter Expert (“SME”) is responsible for partnering with Lending Advisors on the delivery of the SBL product across the UK, Europe and MEA clusters for Citi Private Bank.
The role requires an ability to influence internal stakeholders through excellent technical skills, well developed communication skills, in addition, strong client engagement to deliver creative SBL solutions and lead the growth of the SBL business.
The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the Securities Based (or Lombard) Lending business as well as strong structuring skills, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services. Further, a strong awareness and understanding of the jurisdictional legal and regulatory features across the region is essential.
The SBL SME partners with the Global SBL business head to tailor the strategy to their regional priorities and provide effective communication to related teams, such as the Private Bankers, Lending Advisors, Underwriting Team and Risk, in terms of setting a business plan and communicating the business priorities to ensure all SBL business and risk partners are aligned to execute efficiently for clients. An ability to work independently is important. The role has a level of authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on regional revenues, capital or business operations.
SBL is a core lending product for Citi Private Bank and integral to the partnership with Investments to enable sales teams to deliver the breadth of the Citi Private Bank platform to clients to broaden relationships with the Firm.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the Global SBL Product Head and Regional Lending Advisor Head, to drive strategic expansion in the region.
- Successfully defining and managing execution of regional SBL strategies, including but not limited to client engagement and communication plans, Banker and Lender training to lead a high performing sales team as well as managing the annual planning and budget process as part of the global Lending planning process
- Partner with Lending Advisors on origination activity, working closely with GMM’s (Global Market Managers) and bankers to develop and enhance client relationships and ensure the highest level of client service
- Oversee relationships with key clients in the region and liaising with client teams in the role as product specialist to provide market leading solutions to clients
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement to ensure compliant robust business processes are in place and audit readiness is evident.
- Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations, as well as Citi’s policies and the Product Program.
- Partner with Bankers and leadership to optimize return on capital for the Firm.
- Attract, recruit and retain high performing team. Manage, mentor, coach and develop key talent within the business
- Adherence to firmwide credit standards and other policies Serve as member in relevant product governance forum and attend regional governance meetings as appropriate
- Develop and enhance internal relationships across the region and broader Firm.
- Partners with the 1LOD and 2LOD Risk Organization to drive results and identify areas to mitigate risk
- Responsible for oversight of appropriate transaction structuring and execution (within programs) with appropriate risk and return characteristics, ensuring appropriate Credit Policy and Risk Acceptance standard compliance
- Responsible for the early problem recognition process and must propose, when deemed appropriate, credit classification and appropriate risk rating on specific transactions/ relationships
- Provide regional input to the Global Product Managers to ensure product remain market leading in the region
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and adhering to policy.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in a similar role.
- Extensive Leadership abilities; Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills; Strong marketing skills; Client centric, risk manager; Advanced knowledge of financial markets, investments, banking and loan products, Financial and cash flow modeling,
- Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal); Excellent negotiation skills.
- Proactive approach to the business and ability to deliver effective outcomes.
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree, master’s degree preferred
