Citi's Electronic Execution Business (Cash Equities) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Equity Algo Trader to join our dynamic team covering the EU, UK, and MEA markets. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of electronic trading at a leading global financial institution.
Join Citi's Electronic Execution desk, a key component of our global Cash Equities business. We specialize in providing seamless, low-touch electronic execution solutions to institutional investors, including Long-Only funds, Hedge Funds, and Wholesale clients. Leverage our advanced platform and algorithms to access a diverse range of electronic order books and principal liquidity via our Central Risk desk. We are one of three primary execution channels at Citi, offering unparalleled access to cash equity markets.
As an Algo Trader, you'll play a critical role in optimizing electronic trading strategies across various internal desks, including Program Trading, DM/EM Cash Trading, Delta One, Derivatives, and SES Trading. You'll collaborate closely with the Electronic Sales Trading team to oversee the deployment and configuration of client-specific algorithmic trading strategies, ensuring their performance and stability. This includes proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and direct support to sales traders. You will also identify and integrate corporate actions and new securities into Citi's algorithmic trading framework, as well as deploy new features and platform optimizations from our MQA and Technology partners.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:
Build a deep enough understanding of the Algo framework to understand its decision-making process, adjust trading parameters based on market conditions, and give valuable feedback to the MQA team highlighting potential issues or simply contribute ideas on how to improve the framework.
Responsibly monitor the Algo activity and manually engage with clients and traders on the desk to facilitate single stock cash equity trades.
Work with key stakeholders to improve the operational efficiency of the business, developing robust and market leading systems.
Work in close partnership with control functions such as Compliance, ETRM and ETRC.
Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.
What we will need from you:
Proven Algo Trading Expertise: This role requires demonstrable experience in Equity Algo Trading. Entry-level candidates will not be considered.
Deep Understanding of Algorithmic Trading Protocols: Possess a strong command of smart order routing, intraday trading dynamics, and closing auction strategies.
Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, showcasing excellent communication skills. A strong understanding of algorithmic trading protocol, including Smart Order routing, intraday and closing technicalities.
Strong Academic Foundation: Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
