Equities Algo Trader
Citi is looking to hire an Equity Algo trader to sit within Citi’s EU, UK, and MEA Electronic Execution Business.
The Electronic Execution desk is part of the Cash Equities global business and is responsible for Electronic Execution, often referred to as “Low-Touch” is one of the three execution channels that institutional investors can use to interact with the Cash Equity Markets via Citi. Our firm provides Long-Only, Hedge Funds and Wholesale clients with a platform and algorithms to access the electronic orderbooks ran by a broad range of venues as well as principal liquidity via the Central Risk desk.
The Algo Trading function is responsible for monitoring and interacting with internal desk usage of e-trading strategies. Internal desks include, but are not limited to: Program Trading, DM Cash Trading, EM Cash Trading, Delta One Trading, Derivatives Trading & SES Trading. Algo Trading works closely with the Electronic Sales Trading team on a day-to-day basis. They oversee deployment of specific algo configurations for clients and ensuring our algos are behaving as expected. They help investigating any issue that clients or sales trader might face. Algo trading is also responsible for flagging any corporate actions or new security available to trade on the market, to ensure it would be considered by Citi’s algos and set up to be executed. Algo Trading is also responsible for deployment of new features and platform optimizations as made available from MQA and Technology partners.
What you will do will be varied day to day, but the key drivers for the role are:
Build a deep enough understanding of the Algo framework to understand its decision-making process, adjust trading parameters based on market conditions, and give valuable feedback to the MQA team highlighting potential issues or simply contribute ideas on how to improve the framework.
Responsibly monitor the Algo activity and manually engage with clients and traders on the desk to facilitate single stock cash equity trades.
Work with key stakeholders to improve the operational efficiency of the business, developing robust and market leading systems.
Work in close partnership with control functions such as Compliance, ETRM and ETRC.
Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics.
Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe.
What we will need from you:
This is not an entry level role, so the successful candidate will need to have prior experience in Equity Algo Trading.
Good communication skills and effective interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
A strong understanding of algorithmic trading protocol, including Smart Order routing, intraday and closing technicalities.
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
