The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management technical level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to own and drive the core OMC platform that underpins all of client onboarding across Markets and the Services business. The platform consists of a set of core capabilities that need to refine, evolve, and modernize with a new technology stack where applicable and be unified across the various lines of business to ensure uniform capability and consistent offering for all business lines.

The role needs the person to come in and get a hands-on view of the estate, form an opinion on the opportunities and strengths of the current platform and recommend and implement a unification and modernization of the core offering across all of client onboarding. The position will have a seat at the table in defining and shaping the future technology roadmap for onboarding and will have a strong sphere of influence in the delivery. The operating model will require that all the vertical business domain delivery leads interface with this position to articulate the foundational build dependencies and sequencing to ensure the stream delivers to the business. This role will report directly to the head of client onboarding.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands on with development team reading, writing code. Expectation is that this ration will be high initially and may taper off once the target architecture and team is put in place.
  • Design and implement the core platform capabilities for client onboarding.
  • Faceoff to the business and delivery leads in OMC to achieve outcomes.
  • Influence the budget and financial planning conversations.
  • Hiring and build a team of SME’s that can serve as directs of this role (component leads for each stream)
  • Manage a team of vendor resources who are currently in seat and augment talent where required with full time resources.
  • Manage code quality and ensure focus on automated testing and build pipelines.
  • Schedule periodic code reviews, scrum of scrums and design reviews across the wider group
  • Become the face of the core OMC platform for interactions with senior (MD level) stakeholders for each business.
  • Be aware of the Citi wide technology goals and objectives and align our build accordingly.
  • Drive Agile adoption and delivery across the wider team of 50+ developers/QA/BA.
  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources!
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Full Stack applications development
  • Hands on operational working style with ability to read and write code. Well versed with architectural and design patterns – microservices, micro front ends, document storage solutions – structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience in management
  • Experience managing global technology teams
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$176,720.00 - $265,080.00
