Overview of the Role:

The Application Development Technology Lead is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities to expand and modernize the Onboarding Master Central platform across all of client onboarding business domains.

They will be responsible for software design and development and work with managers and leads in that functional area and ensure common solutions and strategic architecture is consistently implemented across all of client onboarding domains including Markets, Custody, FX. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Will be accountable for delivery of end-to-end application development to one or more businesses. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.



Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on experience developing scalable web applications using Java, Spring Boot and ReactJS.

  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support frontend and backend communication.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering.

  • Write unit tests, integration tests, and perform code reviews to ensure high code quality.

  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle — requirement gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

  • Continuously improve applications' performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals as well as identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements

  • Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards

  • Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint

  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in full stack development.

  • Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.

  • Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in Application Development as a full stack Developer.

  • Extensive experience in Java (Java 8 or above), Spring Boot, and associated Java frameworks.

  • Proficiency with ReactJS and core front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), Redux.

  • Solid experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs.

  • Strong understanding of Web Services (REST and SOAP) concepts and implementation.

  • Good knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle) and document storage solutions (MongoDB).

  • Exposure to Kotlin is a huge plus

  • Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and build tools like Maven or Gradle.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills.

  • Experience in managing and implementing successful projects

  • Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Major Field(s) of Study Required for Role: Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$142,320.00 - $213,480.00
