The Applications Development Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
  • Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in applications development
  • Experience in management
  • Experience managing global technology teams
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and standards
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Java Full Stack Development lead to join our team. This role will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining Trade Finance applications using the latest technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, microservices architecture, and front-end development using Angular. Experience with cloud platforms like OpenShift and containerization technologies like Docker is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications using Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and Angular/React FE.
  • Implement RESTful APIs and integrate with various backend systems.
  • Work with MongoDB and Oracle databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Utilize containerization technologies like Docker and deploy applications to OpenShift or other cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with other developers, testers, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in Java development.

Required Skills:

  • 15-18 years of experience in Java/J2EE development, including strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
  • Proficiency in developing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with both relational databases (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with Angular for front-end development.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and cloud platforms (OpenShift/Cloud Foundry/AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience with orchestration tools like IBMPAM etc.
  • Experience with Active MQ, Apache Kafka or other messaging systems.
  • Experience with JSP, DWR, Struts 2.X, AJAX (While these are older technologies, mentioning them acknowledges the existing codebase and the potential need for maintenance).
