IT Data Lead Analyst, VP
The IT Data Lead Analyst is a senior-level position responsible for liaising between business users and technologists to exchange information in a concise, logical and understandable way in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide input during development and implementation phases, including formulation and definition of systems scope, objectives and necessary system enhancements for complex, high-impact projects
- Identify and communicate risks and impacts and propose risk mitigation options, considering business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment
- Consult with business clients to determine system functional specifications and partner with multiple management teams and other units to meet organizational objectives
- Evaluate new IT developments and evolving business requirements and recommend appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems by analyzing business processes, systems and industry standards
- Provide in-depth and sophisticated analyses with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions and influence strategic functional decisions
- Supervise day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management, work allocation, mentoring/coaching and other duties and functions as assigned
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis
- Experience with all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of business analysis
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's degree preferred

Description:
The IT Data Lead Analyst position serves as a Data domain/portfolio lead supporting a specific area of the business. The IT Data Lead Analyst is responsible for helping the business shape, align, and optimize the data book of work within the specific domain/portfolio. The IT Data Lead collaborates with IT partners to complete high level estimates and secure capacity for the book of work. The IT Data Lead Analyst is responsible for understanding the Citi Data Management Policy (CDMP) and helping Data Management peers (i.e. Business Data Stewards, IT Data Custodians, etc.) to fulfill all the required documentation/processes in support of the data flow within specific domain/portfolio including but not limited to data lineage, data quality, technical metadata, business data dictionary and data controls.
On the delivery of the specific data projects themselves, the IT Data Lead Analyst works with business, data governance and IT partners to understand the data needs and identifies and documents the requirements for the project efforts. The Lead DA works closely with the identified business data owner/SMEs and performs his/her own research to understand the elements, performs data analysis, and gathers all necessary element attributes. The Lead DA serves as a requirement liaison between business and IT to ensure all questions are answered, requirements are clarified and necessary updates are captured. The Lead DA supports the development and testing through requirement development and validation. The Lead DA reports team activities to project management, team management, functional experts, team members, and project stakeholders. The resource will resolve cross-functional issues and involve appropriate functional units to ensure a seamless project implementation. As a Lead DA, the resource will lead/coach other DAs on the team, be responsible for an area of work and provide thought leadership for the Data Management space helping influence, support and progress the Data Governance strategy and the Citi Data Management Policy.
Qualifications:
- Experience with projects relating to data management efforts including but not limited to the implementation of an Enterprise Data Model, Operational Data Store, Metadata Repository and Master Data Management
- Strong understanding of Data Governance concepts
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Experience performing extensive data mapping exercises
- Experience performing in-depth data analysis and data profiling activities
- Strong ability to both writes and interprets complex SQL
- Experience mentoring/leading other data analysts
- Extensive experience eliciting requirements during real time collaborative sessions with stakeholders located in different geographic locations
- Strong interpersonal skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems; excellent teamwork skills
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong consulting skills
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvement
- Solid skills effectively managing multiple small to large projects simultaneously in a cross-functional environment
- Strong organizational skills and ability to influence team dynamics
- High degree of proficiency in project management methods and techniques
- Ability to estimate work effort at project milestones for business/data analysis activities with progressively improved variance to actual effort as scope and requirements are refined
- Ability to research, classify, and prioritize business, user, functional and non-functional requirements
- Experience in varying SDLC methodologies especially Agile
- Self-motivated
- Detail oriented
- Must have experience working with Mainframe, Client/Server, Web, and system architecture
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) with extensive experience using Excel for data analysis
- 6-10 years of experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree/University Degree or Equivalent work experience
- Master’s degree preferred
Successful Candidates MAY also have:
- Knowledge of Mortgage and Retail business
- Knowledge/experience using JIRA or similar requirement management tools
- Experience facilitating the development and documentation of use cases and stories
- Previous programming experience
- Ability to read/interpret SAS code
- Good understanding of interface design patterns and concepts
