Business Manager, Assistant Vice President, Hong Kong Markets Business Execution
The Business Manager role in Hong Kong Markets is responsible for the overall administrative activities of the business. The Business Manager will be on point to manage regulatory exams, internal audits and enhance the risk and control environment. In addition, the Business Manager will coordinate projects and business initiatives, track business financials, conduct business continuity planning and develop other performance metrics, as necessary.
Responsibilities:
Business Execution
- Consolidate Performance Measurement content for presentations, create actionable insights and support on business strategy execution.
- Help produce materials for presentation to the various legal entity Boards.
- Coordinate the implementation of new product capabilities from planning to execution.
- Review and optimize utilization of firm resources such as the Balance sheet, Market data, Brokerage expenses, Technology work slate etc.
- Drive projects and efficiency initiatives in partnership with functional partners like Operations and Technology
- Coordinate projects around automation and reduction of manual touchpoints and right placement of business activities.
- Organize internal/external events working closely with external and internal service providers.
- Manage onboarding of new joiners and offboarding procedures partnering with Human Resources.
Risk and Control
- Assist Markets Management in promoting a pre-emptive Risk and Controls culture across Hong Kong Markets.
- Perform regular reviews and assessments for Business such as Brokerage reviews, Records Management, Control assessments, Legal entity usage etc.
- Drive monthly review of KPIs and craft presentations for Risk and Control Forums
- Review new circulars and and plan/execute relevant controls where relevant.
- Review regulatory requests and surveys and gather relevant information.
- Engage stakeholders to investigate issues, perform root cause analysis of operational risk issues and suggest remediation actions / Corrective Action Plans.
- Participate in Business continuity drills and exercises to ensure Operational Resilience.
- Assess business decisions against risk stripes, demonstrate consideration for the firm's reputation, its clients, and assets.
- Ensure client complaints are documented, reviewed, and followed up with the Control functions in a timely manner.
- Manage Trading floor activities ensuring efficiency and safety and soundness for the business.
- Coordinate internal and external audits related to HK Markets.
Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of experience in a financial services role.
- Experience in Business Management or in a support function covering a Sales or Trading product like Fixed Income or Equities is preferred.
- Good understanding of financial products and governance requirements of a bank or a broker dealer.
- Demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with experience in preparing materials for Senior management.
- Strong organization, project management and time management skills with the ability to work independently or collectively in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, make recommendations, influence stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of projects working in teams.
- Experience in escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Mandarin fluency is an added advantage.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
