Process Control Sr. Analyst (C12) hybrid located in Heredia
The Finance Reporting Senior Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for the generation, tracking and submission of financial reports in coordination with the Finance Team. The overall objective of this role is to accurately prepare and report business/financial transactions, reports and statements in accordance with local regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Support the analysis and submission of reports to various constituencies (local regulators, SEC, Fed, OCC, etc.) based on requirements such as US GAAP, US Regulatory, and local statutory reporting
- Assist with closing the books and sub-ledgers, including passing appropriate required adjustment entries and consolidating financials at the end of each accounting period
- Perform analysis of financial results and conclude cause of variances such as accounting issues and economic events
- Produce metrics to senior management highlighting key issues and remediation status and maintain and enhance related operational and analytical procedures
- Assist in the development of process efficiencies and improvement efforts as well as data quality improvement projects
- Interpret policies, guidelines, and processes and resolve complex problems and transactions
- Assist with the management of one or more processes, reports, procedures, or products
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of related experience
- Financial Services Industry and Project Management experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel
- Working knowledge of related industry practices and standards
- Ability to work with multiple functions
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Citi Finance is responsible for the firm’s financial management and related controls. The team comprises disciplines including Treasury, Tax, Controllers and Financial Planning & Analysis, and manages and partners on key Citi initiatives and deliverables, such as our quarterly earnings process and ensuring Citi’s compliance with financial rules and regulations.
The Global Financial Controls (GFC) team is strategically placed within the Controller’s Chief Administrative Office under Finance. The GFC Americas Risk and Control team is responsible for managing Citi’s global risk and controls oversight activities covering business and function controllers.
The role will partner with Finance Controllers to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques, structure potential solutions and drive to resolution with stakeholders. Controller teams that we support include Wealth Management, USPB, Transformation, SEC Reporting, Strategic Ledger, Corporate Functions and Controller Systems and Data Operations.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
- Work as trusted advisor to Finance Controllers on drafting Issues and formulating action plans to mitigate risks and remediate control deficiencies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the end-to-end process, identify risks, and recommend risk management strategies.
- Analyze root cause of control breaks and gaps; provide guidance on remediation actions.
- Assess sustainability requirements, dependencies and artifacts to close for corrective action plans.
- Monitor and track the progress of corrective action plans. Identify and mitigate roadblocks and escalate any risk to effective and timely delivery.
- Ability to work in close coordination with business stakeholders and build strong relationships to analyze, plan and validate corrective action plans.
- Keep abreast of internal policy changes to further identify new key risk areas impactful to current open issues.
- Promoting a strong control culture to facilitate timely escalation of significant risks through control governance channels.
- Review and challenge of issues and corrective action plans in internal and external audit reports prior to report finalization. Agree sustainability and CAP artifacts to be sent to IA to support Issue closure. Ensure issues have senior ownership according to Issue Management Policy.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar.
- Ability to communicate simply, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing, fluently in English and Spanish.
- 3+ years relevant working experience in Risk and Control, Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, Finance, and/or Accounting.
- Good understanding of financial products, businesses, reporting systems, internal audit processes.
- Knowledge of digital tools (e.g. Knime, Python, BOTs) desired.
- Proven skills in problem solving, competing priorities management, negotiation, project management and organizational structure.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Personable and reliable self-starter who requires minimal management oversight for day-to-day work responsibilities. Highly motivated and able to adapt to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and manage competing priorities including emerging risks to deliver solutions in an effective control environment.
