Global Mobility Tax Advisor (C13) hybrid located in Heredia
The Global Mobility Lead is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as liaison to and also manages vendors (real estate, mobility administration, visa/immigration), the COE (Center of Excellence) country, and invoice payments and account related matters.
- Works with internal tax team in posting expatriate taxes.
- This role mostly works with the Global Mobility Unit in New York on monthly expense postings and audit, clubs and schools in allocation/renomination of debentures, the internal tax team/COE in debenture amortization, and is the point person in liaising with clubs and schools Works with internal tax team in posting expatriate taxes.
- Coordinates with Global Mobility Unit in New York in posting expatriate expenses.
- Manages users and waiting lists of club and school debentures.
- Works with real estate vendors in managing leases signing, renewal and storage.
- Provides end to end mobility administration support to expatriates and eligible employees/transfers.
- Works with and provides guidance to mobility coordinators within and outside of the region.
- Delivers quality services to country and/or regional based expatriates/mobile assignees.
- Counsels on mobility policies, conduct incoming and exit briefings with expatriates.
- Is a liaison with vendors by reviewing and auditing vendor billings.
- Liaisons with Finance, Reconcilement Team, and Accounts Payables on accounting/payment/account proofing matters.
- Works with real estate service providers on rental and utilities expenses reporting, tenancy schedule maintenance
- Reviews periodic housing allowance adjustments.
- Liaisons with real estate service providers and external lawyers on lease/tenancy agreement signing and to answer inquiries pertaining to mobility administration.
- Monitors performance of vendors/service providers.
- Participates in projects as necessary.
- Monitors monthly regional mobility calls
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

The Global Mobility Tax Advisor role is within Human Resources’ Global Rewards department. The role includes managing a variety of international tax issues for all Citi’s globally mobile employees. These include Expatriates, Short Term Assignees, Business Travelers, and International Transfers.
A member of Citi’s Mobility and Immigration Tax team, the successful candidate will have an International Tax background that includes global income and social insurance taxation, related payroll reporting, as well as strong analytic and project management skills. The role will interface routinely with mobile employees, often senior leaders, and HR Colleagues. Collaborate with Citi’s Tax vendor, Payroll, Corporate Tax, Finance, Legal, Executive Financial Services and Regional partners. Responsibilities require in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function. Global Accounting firm experience including complex and variable issues primarily focused on tax and social security across the globe, primarily dealing with internationally mobile employees and employees working cross jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Manage and work closely with tax vendor, technology and Mobility Specialists on coordinating Global tax authorization
- Providing superior customer service to program participants and Human Resources colleagues. Resolve escalated issues for clients.
- Responsible for the tax review and coordination related to mobility employees deferred compensation plans.
- Identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Partner with Expatriate Payroll, Corporate Tax and Finance on expat compensation-related compliance (e.g., tax gross-up, audit, etc.).
- Support reginal and country Mobility partners in Tax compliance related challenges for mobile employees.
- Expertise to run meetings with vendors as well as internal groups such as wider Mobility, Payroll, Employment Tax, and Finance.
- Tax planning with vendors and liaison with parties in relation to vesting events for employees working cross jurisdiction

- Tax experience/background required; international cross-border tax experience emphasis in deferred compensation taxation.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree finished, master’s degree preferred.
