Securities & Derivatives Sr Manager - VP - Hybrid
Fed Settlements is responsible for the settlement of Fixed Income securities across various trading desks and depositories. Candidate should have a proven settlement or operations background. The manager of the team recruits, leads, empowers, develops and motivates staff, maximizing individual contributions and professional growth and development. The manager works closely with technology leads to test technology solutions and improvements and acts as a subject matter expert. The manager is responsible for daily oversight of multiple depositories on CBNA Settlements, managing exceptions, attending meetings, providing solutions to our partners on future flow, weekly and monthly reporting of exceptions, identifying operational risk and escalating as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and leading daily operations of a Fed/CBNA Settlement team; maintaining a culture and environment where processes, risks and controls are continually monitored with potential risks escalated as appropriate in a timely manner
- Timely resolution of fails and breaks as delays or errors can potentially lead to financial and/or reputational risk
- Responsible for demonstrating control, minimizing errors and improving team metrics by preventing escalations, reducing breaks/age, and improving client (internal and external) experience
- Acting as a key point of contact between internal and external partners, our clients and the businesses we support
- Identify inefficiencies in daily tasks and lead improvement(s) in processing productivity and risk mitigation
- Continued engagement and face off with our business, technology and operations partners
- Support the development of an effective control framework that fully meets Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requirements
- Supporting management in the implementation of successful people and engagement strategies to help attract, develop and retain a diverse team
- Coaching and mentoring our people, ensuring effective one to one discussion
- Follows established procedures to identify problems related to securities settlements that require investigation or research
- Assists in resolving problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents
- Provides leadership and guidance when reviewing business or industry initiatives and ensuring successful implementation, and sound controls are in place
- Demonstrates an intermediate level of understanding of products and processes, and of how duties relate integrate with others in the team and closely related teams
- Utilizes strong communication, interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders, and to exchange potentially complex sensitive information, while being sensitive to audience diversity
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience. Proven track record within capital markets operations, fixed income settlement experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a structured, high volume, time sensitive, high risk and demanding environment
- Good analytical skills and positive attitude
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive
- Strong risk management and control mindset
- Provides evaluative judgement based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations, draws on diverse range of internal and external sources
- Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Prior regulatory / risk management / capital markets experience a plus
