Team/Role Overview

This position is part of the Banking & International in-business risk team charged with building out in-business Environmental, Social and Governance (”ESG”) Risk management capabilities, in terms of risk identification, measurement and integrating these into governance and existing risk processes.

This role will be focused on developing and automating the identification, measurement, monitoring and control of ESG risks. Working in close partnership with lines of business, functional and risk partners, and the broader Banking & International Control organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, delivery and coordination of in-business risk best practice in this new and rapidly evolving area. The role will report into the Head of In-business ESG Risk for Banking & International and to local Head of Europe ESG Strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess ESG risks drivers, emerging risks and regulations applicable to Citi’s businesses.
  • Develop sector/portfolio-based methodologies to identify and quantify ESG risks.
  • Establish framework to assess ESG risk drivers and support the ESG risk identification , business environment scanning and materiality assessment performed as part of wider risk management initiatives.
  • Establish and documents processes to integrate ESG risk management capabilities in existing governance and risk management processes and controls.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to support wider ESG regulatory requirements.
  • Lead 1LOD ESG risk workstreams as required to ensure delivery of capabilities and on-going governance.
  • Support the Europe ESG Strategy Head as required on other ESG initiatives for the Europe cluster.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant experience working in a financial institution
  • Strong familiarity with the regulatory expectations facing banks with respect to ESG risk and concepts of ESG risk management techniques.
  • A proven track record of liaising across diverse stakeholder groups including senior managers.
  • Advanced organizational skills including attention to detail, multi-tasking and following-up.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Self-starter who can operate with a limited level of direct supervision and can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate and analyze large amounts of information across a variety of topics
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

Education

Bachelor / University degree or equivalent experience; potentially climate risk qualification
