MEA Head of Corporate Banking
The Head of Corporate Banking for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) is a senior management-level position responsible for the strategic direction of the Corporate Banking business in that region and legal entity. The role encompasses people management, strategic client management, liaison with other areas of the bank to ensure superior client service, solution development and implementation, and ensuring adherence to all legal, regulatory, compliance, risk and other policy standards. The incumbent will report to the Global Co-Heads of Corporate Banking and will matrix into the MEA Cluster and Banking Head / MEA CEO.

With a presence in the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region for over 60 years and covering a wide geographic footprint operating in 29 presence countries and 30 hub-managed countries, Citi is a trusted advisor in providing the financing needs of parented top tier local corporates and Global Network Banking (GNB) clients across various sectors, including telecoms and media, retail, industrials, healthcare, public sector and financial institutions. The Corporate Banking Head position will be based in our MEA hub of Dubai.
Job Background/context:
Working in close partnership with the Investment Bank, Commercial Bank and product partners across Services and Markets, the Corporate Banking Head for MEA manages a MEA Banking team of c. 300 bankers who provide complex global banking services to clients in MEA and support their requirements across the Citi network. The CB Head will have overall responsibility for client strategy across the region providing effective leadership in a complex matrix organization to achieve revenue and expense goals, support the Relationship Management team in broader client coverage based on strong industry and regional knowledge to deliver the best of Citi to our regional corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall management of the client relationship team which helps provide a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions to our clients, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives
- Partner with Investment Banking to drive and execute episodic transactions and with key stakeholders, including Risk and Institutional Credit Management (ICM)to allocate capital prudently and in adherence with risk policies
- Work in partnership with all MEA product heads under the MEA Cluster and Banking Head leadership
- Establish and meet revenue goals (L2 growth at Cluster and country level; inbound growth – including intra- MEA -; outbound to NAM) and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with ICM and Risk
- Responsible for own client coverage and yearly performance targets
- Responsible for driving client account planning, product agnostic cross sell, client access, and effective capital allocation
- Understand MEA trends in order to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
- Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards
- Credit senior in team with in-depth knowledge of credit policies and responsible for Credit decisions /approving credits. Fully accountable for credit spectrum including documentation, Target Market identification, audit, due diligence, and early problem recognition
- Manage Customer Profitability (Revenue, Expense, CoC, EBIT, and NI) and ROTCE
- Manage and develop talent according to business priorities and in adherence with established budgets

- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Knowledge/Experience:
Functional:
- 20+ years of banking experience
- Strong product knowledge across Markets, Services, Investment Banking and Lending with demonstrated analytical ability
- Strong communication skills
- In-depth understanding of compliance issues, and global and local regulatory requirements
- Experience in working with and within a matrix organization and cross-functional teams
- Senior Credit Officer level 2
Market:
- In-depth industry knowledge
- Proven existing customer relationships in Europe
- Proven track record of senior relationships

Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business or financial engineering program
