Banamex - SVP of Corporate Credit and Alternative Investments
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a key risk senior officer for Investment Products Risk (IPR) within Global Risk Management responsible for managing the risks associated with the manufacture, sale, and distribution of investment products and services to individual investors. Performing both quantitative and qualitative analysis on new and existing products as well as building strong relationships with his/her business counterparts so as to become an integral part of that business' ongoing operation and management.
- Assisting in organizing and analyzing intelligence on the positioning and activity within the aggregated portfolio of Citi clients across businesses in order to identify potential investment product risk issues.
- Coordinating and tracking the periodic review of product programs.
- Contributes to the evaluation of investment products and services, understanding the investment thesis of a product and the key drivers and risks that may affect its performance, in order to arrive at a conclusion regarding its overall riskiness that will be used to facilitate judgments regarding product suitability across Citi businesses.
- Reviews a product's offering and sales materials, ensuring accurate and complete representation of a product's risks, terms, and conditions. Works with counterparts in product management, legal, and compliance to affect revisions, where necessary.
- Develops ongoing reporting requirements related to his/her covered businesses and evaluate these reports, escalating issues to the Senior Risk Manager.
- Monitors and evaluates ongoing performance of 3rd party and proprietary investment managers and related products.
- Escalates performance outliers to Senior Risk Manager with a view on the macro and/or microeconomic factors contributing to that performance.
- Manages the ongoing pipeline of periodic reviews related to specific products, programs, and firm models within coverage areas. Take responsibility for meeting approval deadlines and escalating, early, those issues that may delay delivery.
- Assisting in maintaining the proprietary technological infrastructure that is used to transmit IPR’s risk evaluation of investment products to Citi wealth management businesses and track client investment activity at an aggregated level.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of market assumptions utilized in firm models, which include: asset allocation optimizers, Monte Carlo, and cash-flow analytics tools. Write detailed reports evidencing the decision process as well as identifying key risks and firm/client considerations.
- Assisting with periodic presentations to Citi senior management, regulators, and other constituents, requiring the translation of complex concepts into 'user friendly' language.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- MBA, CFA or other finance-related higher education.
- Moderate to extensive knowledge of retail investment products and services, including: alternative investments (i.e. hedge funds, private equity/real estate), portfolio construction methodologies, and the broader capital markets (e.g., structured notes, fixed income instruments) • Ability to work effectively in a team setting; demonstrated ability to manage and influence divergent views across a complex organization in the absence of direct authority • Expert analytical and writing skills • An ability to drive tasks through to completion, with periodic guidance • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint • Ability to build and maintian relationships and organizational skills including sophisticated communication • Ability to develop relationships cross-functionally • Analytical skills including experience with portfolio-construction techniques and portfolio analysis • Flexibility in thought and approach; able to introduce creative solutions and enact reasonable judgment for complex issues that have no ‘right’ answer
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
