The Credit Risk Exec Group Manager manages multiple teams of senior professionals through other senior managers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors' products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization as a whole. Develops medium- to long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital or business operations. Typically, a direct report to an EB role and sits on the highest functional leadership team within a region, job function, or global business.

Responsibilities:
  • The function entails the strategic development of underwriting criteria and policies requirements for lending to the Business and Professional (B&P) segments to build a profitable and predictable B&P business.
  • Develops credit underwriting criteria and documentation requirements for the B&P segment in accordance with Global Consumer Credit and Fraud Risk Policies, commercial global policies and local laws and regulations.
  • Identifies new opportunities by continuously reevaluating current credit policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Strategically develops, designs, and executes tests that will enable future growth, strategy optimization or process
  • enhancement.
  • Documents policies and processes specific to B&P lending in the Business Credit Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Owns the classification credit process, non accrual and Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) process for the Business & Professional Portfolio.
  • Forecasts charge-offs and recoveries.
  • Leads development of Credit Programs for the Merchant Acquirer business and ensures control are in place for the implementation.
  • Plays a proactive role in training loan officers, collectors and credit staff in B&P lending.
  • Ensures business has adequate resources in collections and remedial management, and the policies and procedures for the same have been documented in the Business Credit Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Develops relevant MIS to monitor the Business & Professional portfolio
  • Actively works cross-functionally with key business partners to support the business strategy.
  • Ensures compliance with Global Policies.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:
  • 15+ years relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management, commercial lending and credit controls.
  • Proven technical and analytical skills.
  • Able to synthesize data and make creative recommendations.
  • Experience in commercial lending from large financial institutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with many levels of senior management throughout the credit and business organization, and also will need abiltity to work in non-traditional organizational structures and reporting lines.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred; managerial experience
